Posting with an alias

Can someone please clarify the "posting under an alias" issue because it is really unclear to me what the issue is.What constitutes an alias and what format does a post without an"alias" take? The post by the newbie inquiring about CL the other day  prompted a post by Solana Jewel in which she suggested he would have a better chance of getting a response if he did not use an alias. In light of the fact that I strongly doubt that Solana Jewel,Fuzzy Phallus,Bizarro Superdude, and MainlineGuy at al are anyones actual names, they are then by definition "aliases".So please clarify for me what constitutes posting under other than an alias? Please know that I am totally serious in asking this question.

Those that are not VIP members can't post with an alias. You can tell if it's an alias because the post Won't have a little "envelope". Non VIPs can't send or receive PMs (private messages) either. It pays to be a VIP.  I had the dubious distinction of having more aliases than ANY TER member at one point!

I like aliases, find them fun, and feel they make the board more interesting in certain instances. "Shlomo Shlong Dong" is one of my aliases. He is an Orthodox Jewish character I created. (I happen to be a Christian). "Dingleberry" is another. (I haven't used that alias in a while, and I have a clean ass thanks).  LOL   ;->

For the record, "Mainline Guy"-- YOU are posting under alias-- Mods can see usernames, and yours IS NOT Mainline Guy.  LMAO

The issue with posting under a 'Board Alias' versus your TER username is that there is no way to link to your alias to your reviews, so that one can check your 'bona fides' before replying to a post.  Like Fuzzy said though, they do have uses...

The way eye see it the term alias as used on this board is any name other than the one on your TER birth certificate.
For the purpose of this board The name on your TER birth certificate is your "real name" and any other name you use is an alias
As for me, I suppose, technially,  you could say I too have numerous aliases, however since the Followme family is so large I allow my cousins and other family menbers to sign on using my TER log in name then go to their names such as
SantaFollowme Claus
FarherFollowme
EasterFollowmeBunny
PopeFollowmeLXIX
DrFollowmeOBGYN
RabbiFollowme
Followmeopolis
to name just a few of my family
So technically these are aliases , however in my case they are all real  members of the followme family

I hope this clears it all up

Thank You

I sent my $50 in today.  What's up with the  Netherlands?  There could be a lot easier and quicker way to send a check. They say it takes a few days to process the thing.  The credit card this is completely out.
