Some-one told me its all about the Wiz...

no idea what that means but hate to eat twice..

Pats is dirty and greasy. Genos is anti-immigrant ( they had a sign that said "please order in English"). Jim's steak on south street is the best. They slice the meat right in front of you. Plus south street is a cool place to be.

Is that really anti-immigrant in your opinion, hun? I mean, if I went to another country I'd assume the responsibility of speaking in their language, much moreso if I MOVED there to live. I don't go to Italy and order in English, or Mexico in Italian. Obviously, they were asked enough times. Personally, I don't go to an establishment to order food of American or regional regards in another language. Is it perhaps not the most personal and practical, professional approach, sure, but no body has asked what personal and professional sandwich to eat. Hazing is part of Philly and if you can't speak the language, and be a tourist at best, then kick rocks. Anti-immigrant? SERIOUSLY? Babe, not the most PC business practice, but if you don't know what numbers in their books are and who hey serve regularly, then get off your angloamerican soapbox because that has been Philly culture since before we booed Santa.

can't visit Philly without visiting..world famous place to visit but I guess if you live there its different.

IMO I don't think there is a correlation between anti immigrant and anti foreign language. I also think there is nothing wrong with the sign its not like they employ translators.

I like South Street! Also Geno has Italian roots he is not really anti-immigrant just pro-America or more so pro-Philadelphia. He was a good man with a great heart.

I personally do not like cheese whiz on my cheesesteak. I prefer provolone and I also really like Tony Lukes over by the stadium the best. Enjoy!

I assume you are visiting and genos/pats is definitely a tourist attraction and as a tourist I think you should definitely try genos or pats. My advice is if u want fries with your steak get pats if you don't get genos. The sandwiches are virtually the same.

Regarding Jim's and south street do yourself a favor and don't go there.  South street has slowly but surely became an embarrassment to the city and is filled with jerks, bums, crime, scammers and awful shops. Avoid at all costs IMO

I agree with Sidney I would recommend tony Luke's to someone who has had genos and pats before, isn't interested in the Philly cheesesteak experience and or just wants the best sandwich.

Cheese whiz is highly recommended.

of the cheese whiz sandwich and the other..I don't know how to post it if I found it but I am salivating and I have not arrived yet

I understand that "James" is a sit down indoors restaurant and would hate to go alone..so will give that a miss but they have great reviews for the sandwich

My favorite !   that's if you like slices of pizza the size of a roofing shingle..lol

YES!  That pizza is delicious!

I walked in one day recently and asked for a large...I could not stop laughing when the girl showed me the size of that Gigantic pizza pie.  I was like um, lady, that literally will not fit into my car.

Good times

Between the 2, I prefer Pat's.  they are both good but Geno's is a little fattier IMO.  Like a few others have said I prefer Tony Luke's over them all.
Also you may want to go to Dinic's in Reading Terminal for a roast pork.  It won best sandwich in America on Adam Richmond's show on Travel Channel.

Isn't that what George Castanza thinks every man wants?

dalesandros in roxborough is the best. Tony Luke 2nd. Jim steaks on South street isn't bad at all. And the neighborhood there isn't as bad as others have said.

I got steaks a few yrs ago at the airport on my way out and they were ok.
This time they were horrible AND $11.00 each AND no wiz... Were horrible..

Go to Geno's or Pat's..guaranteed next time I will figure out a way to
get transportation to either of the above I mentioned so I can take
one home to my son..

Makenzi

....however the cheese fries with the Wiz ....  AWESOME.
While I was ordering a guy hanging around also suggested some place called Fat Joe's *shrugs*.
