No, $1k isn't the new normal but prices have skyrocketed, for sure.

I am sure Covid is a factor, as so many men were on the sidelines, then masses of them came back all roughly at the same time as they got their shots so the business was flooded with new customers at a time where the number of providers probably went down a bit. Huge inflation hit the legal markets and it has hit the illegal ones too.
All that said, you can still find quality women in the Philly/NJ area for $350-$500 an hour.

I was just on Eros Philidelphia and there was a plain looking blonde who asked 1k for one hour and I've been out of the loop for several years. Is this the new normal? Is it because of the pandemic/lockdown or other reasons?  
I could guess that since OnlyFans and other similar sites have exploded its possible that escorts might be at a premium these days.

Guys it's not the norm, it's because there are fewer and fewer hobbyists participating and providers are getting fewer bookings a week from what I have been told by the girls I have seen.

Supply of girls is quite high and guys willing to venture into the hobby is shrinking in comparison.  

Look at it this way, Uber destroyed the taxicab industry . and whatsyourprice is doing the same to the escort industry..
