Someone wrote this in a PM to me earlier today.  It's not the entire PM, just the part I felt was out of order.  This was because I disagreed with a comment and position he took on one of the boards.  I will not reveal the identity of the sender in public; perhaps he will read this and choose to out himself.  Disagree with me and call me whatever with regard to my comments, positions, opinions, etc., but don't take shots at my current physical state.  I stopped short in my reply of saying that cancer can be cured but ignorant is forever.  In any case, I feel compelled to ask:  

Who else thinks this way?  If you do (or, for that matter, if you don't), let's hear your side.  Don't pull any punches, for or against.

I think that if you can find some harmless comfort and solace by turning to those who would be sympathetic to you on this board that you should go for it.  Fuck this writer and the horse he rode in on!

I don't want to hear about your health problems. This board is about escorts and things related to such. Your cancer is not in any way, shape, or form related to the purpose of the board or erotic in any nature.  Does this sound harsh? Yes. Your posting anonymously on an internet escort board about your life events to a random group of people in my book is just sad.  Seek out a therapist or join a support group if you feel the need to share about your life events.

This is supposed to be a community.Correct? Other issues have been discussed on the boards besides the good old s*ck&f*ck,performance ratings,tits and ass,etc.

This is a nice,safe place to vent or rant to our brethren.I'm sure CarltonS did share his feelings with his family and friends.What's the harm in sharing with TER members? Obviously from the posts about his condition,he received a lot of positive feedback.That may have helped with his healing process.....not a bad thing.

I think it is sad that Spiegel felt the need to berate CarltonS in a pm.

I think what others are trying to convey, is that TER is a vehicle of fantasy , or at least presents the façade of fantasy and eroticism. There is a clear disclaimer on the front page stating that this is strictly for entertainment purposes only.
To discuss cancer, or your personal battle with cancer,  snaps one back into reality that they came here to advoid. TER is the one ( or in some cases the only ) place where guys and girls can have an alter ego, fantasize about weekly conquest, flirt and communicate with each other on a level unknown to the outside world.
Boys prefer to gaze at pictures of boobies and snatches ( as do I) as appose to dealing with real life issues, especially here. Overtime I’ve noticed that TER serves as an outlet for some and a lifestyle for others. What is TER for you?

On some levels, it could easily be perceived as inappropriate to discuss your health on the board. Conversely, you may have friends who appreciated your post, more over, there may be a gentlemen out there who is going though the same thing. Perhaps your post helped him.

Instead of seeking validation for your actions on this board, consider your self a warrior who’s going to kick cancer’s ass!

When I saw your original post a couple weeks ago on cancer that was something that I thought took a lot of courage and you showed a lot of strength in your fight with cancer.

Do not let those people get to you who think you can only discuss escorts on this site. These boards are also called discussion boards. Whats wrong with an occasional glimpse into the real lives of the people behind those usernames.

Hopefully none of you will ever have to deal with cancer like Carlton has; these kind of stories to me are inspirational. Carlton is far from pathetic; he is actually one of the good guys on the boards.

TER might not have been the best place for you post because it does not accommodate diverse topics and doesn't really have a sense of community beyond a handful of core posters that Bestgfe.com does.

Best GFE is virtually useless as a tool for reviews or serious info on this hobby. It is devoid of reviews.  It's a place for hobbyists that aren't credible, and have no $$$.

BestGFE is a Kmart site for Kmart shoppers.

I am just getting to learn that there are different posts best suited to different boards.  The Reviewers Only board seems to be more open to many posts.  (I posted a long discussion on the risks of getting HIV from different specific activities. Many problems and questions are dealt with and there is a certain feeling of fellowship there.)The Erotic Highway is really for questions of emotional/psychological/social nature.  (I tried to post the HIV information there first and it was deemed inappropriate.  I now understand this and would not do such a posting there again.)  There are very personal questions and opinions of the appropriate nature posted there.  The atmosphere there tends to be very supportive. The Legal Corner is, as the name suggests, about legal questions associated with the hobby. This board seems to be more about ladies' comings and goings and specific problems and delights, etc.  I did not read your original post, so I can't comment.  I think you would have gotten a warm response on the Highway and --if you have reviewed enough-- the Reviewers board.  By the same token, if someone doesn't want to read about your situation on this board, he/she is free not to read it.  (I don't know what kind of cancer you have.  Feel free to PM me if you like to exchange thoughts about it.  I am not only a physician, medical school professor, and listed in Best Doctors in America, I have comfortably survived cancer myself.)

And, while I think Spiegel was way too harsh, I agree with his basic point as well.  There are many outlets and support groups, but TER is focused on a particular subject.  Perhaps ask folks here if they'd like to be on an email list for your updates?  On the other hand, you can make a post, with the subject line clear, and then we can all chose to read or not read, no harm no foul.

Talk about kicking a man while hes down! Its not like hes on here asking you to donate $ to him or something.
No matter where some one goes for support its for a reason, I know he asked for every ones opinion this time but in the future  when someone post about a life issue keep the rude and insensitive remarks to yourselves...there are people with feelings behind the computer.

It really isn't that serious. Nobody forces anyone here to read a particular post or thread. Cartlon is a member of this community and guess what? He has FRIENDS here on this board.  Only an ASSHOLE would make his posts an issue.  If his posts "depress" or "bum you out " then just don't read them.

Some people are just negative pricks by nature.
Why cant we all just get along and better yet help each other in a positive way and enjoy this hobby that we have embarked on.

Most people would wish somebody well that is fighting cancer, you on the other hand are the one that is truly sad.

Kind of interesting that once you got all the sympathy and empathy from other posters and providers you were soon back. Kind of like the providers who post they are retiring and then six months or a year later are back. You lose credibility.

So are you really telling me the Florida economy has nothing to do with you wanting to travel? I mean I was born at night but not last night. I hear this from both my friends and a provider or two.  My friend in Boca tells me home sales in his development are down 50% and with a 20K Club fee on each sale. Moreover, the retirees are getting killed due to the low interest rates on T-bills -- rates have gone from 6% to 3% and the market is down 20%. So if you are a retiree with 1mm dollars you are only making 30k as opposed to 60k if safely invested. If you had an equity portfolio you got hit hard.

Did you use a dictionary to learn how to spell "credibility"?  Not that I need to explain one thing to the likes of you (rolled that out because you got your ass kicked on this issue), but I thought at the time that this thing was going to wind up far worse than it was, and thought indeed at the time that I was finished here.  Was I premature?  Probably, in retrospect.  However, when I saw the replies and the support, as well as how things turned out health-wise subsequently, I stayed on.  My health is as strong as ever, because I was fortunate enough to have received the proper care in the proper time, it would seem.  When I'm done with the chemo, I'm back.  Does THAT answer your question, or do I need to enforce my points to you in a different manner?  Perhaps like George Foreman did to Joe Frazier?

As I understand what just happened, what seemed like and innocent somewhat theoretical discussion was actually a battle for survival.  The winner, Carlton, got to stay, the loser left TER.  Wow! Very dramatic.  

I don't live anywhere near Philadelphia, but I visit your board, along with several others. I find that the most entertaining are the ones with more diverse discussions. They seem to be the ones that have more of a sense of community. You folks seem to have that here. You get to know one another, even if only through the board, but that is what allows this community to be a place where someone like Carlton can reach out.

Just my opinion---don't change.

When I have my final victory party over this cancer, I plan on inviting Spiegel.  After all, someone has to mow my lawn...
