END OF MESSAGE

On what must have been the hardest day of his life, he goes out and manages the Phils to win again against the Dodgers and give all of us Phillie lovers a 2-0 lead in this playoff.

For those who may have missed the news, Charlie lost his elderly mom early in the morning on Friday and then had to have enough focus to go out and manage his team in a very important game.

He's an exceptional human being and I don't know how anyone who loves baseball can't root for this guy. So you go, Charlie! We baseball die-hards luv ya here in Philly!

I absolutely agree: Charlie Manuel is one class act.  I'm originally from NY, so naturally I root for my "roots" teams.  But once the Metsies fell out of it (again???) I decided to pull hard for these Phillies.  I like a lot of their players, and think they're just a fun team to watch.

From all I've heard, seen or read about Charlie M, the guy is first rate all the way.  He may not look or sound like one of the boy genius types of managers, but he knows the game, and his players love him...kind of a southern Joe Torre.  Anyways it took tremendous courage for him to go out and do his job this week.  Most of us would take a few days off to mourn our loss.

This guy deserves all the support Philly can give him...baseball fan or not.  I know he's got mine!

Perhaps Brett Myers can play a field position (1B perhaps?) when he's not pitching, so that the Phils won't lose that .800 batting average 4 days out of 5.  Ryan Howard better start hitting or Brett may lose his job!!!

I am used to 2 things: personal nobility of players and managers and disappointment for fans. Sympathy to Charlie and Victorino (whose grandmother died) and breath holding for the rest of us.
