“Tall and tan and young and lovely
The girl from ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, each one she passes goes - ah

When she walks, she’s like a samba
That swings so cool and sways so gentle
That when she passes, each one she passes goes – ooh”

While the song was written way before my time, it describes me completely!
I love the way “Girl from Ipanema” is sung in Portuguese. It seems so sensuous.

The first person who can provide me a copy of Girl from Ipanema ( played in F Major)with Portuguese lyrics( not just the instrumental version) wins a free half hour session with me. Additionally if you can provide Wave and How Insensitive, both in Portuguese ( along with Girl from Ipanema, keys and versions are unimportant), receives a free hour session.

For those of you that aren’t in to bossa nova, I’ll be at my usual hide away in Center City all week. I’m offering incall starting at $250 and outcalls to New Jersey, Delaware and the suburbs of Philly for a significantly reduced rate ( depending on location).

I will be available at the following times
Tuesday- 11am-10pm
Wenesday-10am-1pm and 3pm-10pm
Thursday- 3pm-10pm
Friday 10am-1pm

Get ready for an intense, free-flowing style, conducted in a haze of seduction and laughter!

here you go! can't wait to see you!!

Olha que coisa mais linda
mais cheia de graça
É ela menina que vem e que passa
nun doce balanço, caminho do mar...

Moça do corpo dourado, do sol de Ipanema
O seu balançado é mais que un poema
é a coisa mais linda
que eu já vi passar...

Ah! Porque estou tão sozinho
Ah! Porque tudo é tão triste
Ah! A beleza que existe

A beleza que não é só minha
que também passa sozinha

Ah! Se ela soubesse
que quando ela passa
o mundo sorrindo
se enche de graça
e fica mais lindo
por causa do amor
por causa do amor
por causa do amor
[Original lyric, in Portuguese by Vinicius de Moraes]

This one had the chords as well, hope you don't mind.

Again, with the chords, but you could do a copy paste to a word doc and delete the chords if you want.  I could also do it for you, but didn't want to take the time so I could get this post up and win the grand prize. Woo-hoo!!

Antonio Carlos Jobim - Vinícius de Moraes

Bm7      A13/-9       Am6                      E7/G#
A insensatez que você fez, coração mais sem cuidado
G6            Cmaj7      Dbm7/-5   F#7/+5      Bm7
Fez chorar de dor, o seu amor, um amor tão delicado
D7/A         G#dim         Gmaj7  Em7           Bm7
Ah, porque você foi fraco assim, assim tão desalmado

Ah, meu coração quem nunca amou, não merece ser amado
Bm7         A13/-9       Am6                E7/G#
Vai meu coração ouve a razão, usa só sinceridade
G6          Cmaj7          Dbm7/-5    F#7/+5      Bm7
Quem semeia vento, diz a razão, colhe sempre tempestade
D7/A         G#dim       Gmaj7   Em7       Bm7
Vai, meu coração pede perdão, perdão apaixonado
D7/A            Db7/G#       Gmaj7/-5   F#7/+5     Bm7
Vai porque quem não, pede perdão, não é nunca perdoado

My best friend in Brazil is Vinicius niece.

When he was alive, he signed couple of the original vinyl records and she gave me as a gift.

Still in the original cover...never been played.

I collect vinyl records, I have over 25 thousand...most still sealed and from different artists.

Sealed??

I was always told, in the 60's, (like it was yesterday) that you had to take the cellophane off or the record would warp??

Hope all is well Betty.

Packed tight & upright, 50 in each crate, so they have no room to warp.

Not all records were sold wrapped in plastic, some just had the inside sleeve sealed.

I inherit a huge collection from my father, didn't know what to do with them at the time, so I decided to keep adding to it.

My father loved music, I remember a huge piece of furniture in our "music room"...made by Telefunken (a german brand)...it had two turntables, a multi band Hi-fi radio and stereo speakers...all built in in beautiful grained, shinny oak.

Something like this one...

Looks like you were not requesting just the lyrics.  Too bad.  How bout a kiss and HJ for effort? :-))
So...what exactly do you mean by "a copy". A link to a you tube video? An actual tape/LP/CD? An emailed file? An 8-track?  I'm not trying to be a wise guy here; I'd sure love to help you out and get the free session, but am just not clear on what you are asking for.

What I am asking for is an mp3, wave file or actual burned CD.
It’s entirely too easy to find lyrics, and for those of you have posted chord changes, I appreciate the gesture! That definitely helps!
If you chose to send the songs by email that will suffice, however I prefer them on a burnt CD and that disk can be delivered at your arrival to a scheduled appointment.
As it stands right now, one gentleman has been granted a free half hour.  No one has sent me all three songs as of yet.
Keep searching guys!

My parents -might- have these on vinyl.  I'll have to look when I visit next weekend for my birthday...  I dubbed some of their LPs to cassette tapes way back when, but I don't have a (working) tape deck to play/encode them (nor the time)...  But now I'm going to go dig them up and see if I have those songs! :)

Vinicius de Moraes is probably one of the greatest lyricists of all time.
As a long time bossa nova fan, I must have > 100 different tunes written by him.

Anyone interested in bossa nova ("new wave"), should start with an Antonio Carlos Jobim collection. Then move on to Joao Gilberto. You won't be sorry.
