The impact of inflation/stagflation on the hobby.sad_smile

A family of four use to pay $400/$500 a month for groceries 18 months ago. Now it is $800-$1000/month. That is an extra $6000/year out of the pocket, the first place it will come from is the hobby. That is 20 hours of provider time at $300/hour. Hobbyists will have to ask for a federal bailout in the form of a tax credit for food.

Not sure what economics reports you are looking at or what's in your shopping cart (p***y? bartle doo?)....but your numbers would be 100% inflation........NOT

.and....statistics

Your posts, including the past ones, seem to be concerned with provider income, hobbyist spending, and statistics that don't seem to match the reality of what's really going on. You post with an alias, although "G.S. CEO" would indicate you run a food chain ... and if your chain is experiencing a 100% inflationary price rise over 18 months, no wonder you don't want to identify yourself. I shop at the same store every week and see my costs up 15-20% over the past 18 months, but not the 100% your math above indicates. So, what's the point ... that providers are seeing less hobbyists because of the cost of bacon? That we should eat less and hobby more? That inflation is on the increase? Gas was $4.00 a gallon a bit ago, and now I just filled up (super, too!!!) for $ 1.67 a gallon.

I appreciate your wanting the community to know what the economy is doing, and I don't mean to be critical, but I just don't see the point of the post, unless it is sarcasm for "the Bailout" that other indistries are looking to receive. As a multi-degreed professional in a technical field, what's happening in the world and the hobby does not escape me ... I make whatever adjustments I need to, and do what I feel I need to do.

And by the way, that $6000.00 extra cost of food you reference ... who says the first place it will come from is hobbying? And, it's actually only 12 hours of some provider time ;)

If you can clarify where you're getting your information, and be a bit more specific as to why the cost of food necessarily will effect hobbying, please enlighten me.
