Fishy PM question

I've gotten 3 PM's in the 3 days asking for me to elaborate on one review submitted a while back. These 3 people are looking to book with her and have some pretty specific questions. I responded vaguely to the first and am ignoring the 2nd and 3rd. Coincindence or should I be a bit cynical? Anyone else experiencing something similar?

Can't tell if coincidence or not. Perhaps the provider has escalated advertising and/or posting and that increased visibility is spawning more interest.

Have not recently received the type of PM you are referring to recently but have in the past and the two rules of thumb come into play.

For what it's worth, Two rules of thumb I use when responding to any requests anyway:
- Someone with no reviews and no posting history who PMs looking for info gets very little info or none, depending on the nature of the inquiry. Amount of information given increases with the amount of participation on the site that the PMer has;
- When giving information, I make it a point, just so there is no misunderstanding, that the information given is my take on that particular session and not an assertion that future sessions with me or anyone else will be the same.

I've been through similar things. Once it was a legitimate dispute over the contents of a review (I'd guessed wrong about age, always a hurtful mistake; I corrected the error). That sequence of PMs started with some fan or associate of the provider in question contacting me rather than the provider herself. The other series of strange PMs involved someone claiming that a provider was offering a service that is almost always off the menu.

Both the hobby and the Internet attract some strange people and some scammers; not surprising that both are sometimes found on the boards. ;)
