What I can't understand is why LE insist on pursuing the hobby community. I can see why they were invovled when street walking was more common, but now it's done quietly behind closed doors- so who exactly is the victim? Certainly not the public, they don't even know it exsists in large part. There has got to be other things with which they could occupy their time and better protect us as a community.

screen, and screen some more.
Seriously - vice squads are making comments as if prostitution did not exist before the internet! heck... it IS the world's oldest profession - bar none.
Prior to the internet there were "swingers pubs," local flyers, "rag" newspapers and good ole word of mouth.... How do I know? I found them prior to the internet about 20 yrs ago... they were there! all ya had to do was look. pretending that this is new is really interesting.... sure the mechanisam has changed but then so has how we make phone calls or write letters or for that matter - cook a TV dinner.
The other thing that has changed (and I might add for the better) is that the class of women who choose to do this is far superior to what it use to be.

I do not believe LE is particularly motivated to pursue the hobbying community. I read the article and if I am reading between the lines correctly the bottom line is that LE has to respond to citizen/business complaints. Vice primarily deals with drug issues, but they cannot ignore the prostitution complaints. To ignore complaints would be political suicide. The real driver to the investigations and arrests seem to be the hotels. Notice how the LE goes out of his way to fully explain all the details of how an investigation works and the profile used to catch perps. Notice he says that arrests are easy but convictions are rare. Notice he says that he does not do undercover stings. Why would they spill all the beans like that? Sure the reporter gets a juicy story and the LE sound and act tough, but I suspect it's because LE has better things to do with their time and budget, so they are broadcasting a fair warning to hobbying community to stay under the radar so the hotels stop making complaints.

I'm certainly reading the article closely as well as gleaning what's available between the lines. When the article says "Time prevented Rufo from going after "Nicolle," I'm guessing that registered as a NCNS to Nicole.
There but for the grace of god . . .
I'm wondering if I should start walking in with a briefcase/duffle bag...as long as I tell the provider the reason I'm doing it....
I alwaays ask where the elevator is in relation to the front desk..and always try to leave thru the side entrance...
That Boston Globe article is a treasure trove of information on how to avoid getting busted. Don't know how long before it disappears so here are my suggested countermeasures to avoid fitting the profile in the article:
Hobbyists:
- Do not act like a john
- Is there a man/woman in a late model car in the parking lot on a stakeout
- Do not enter hotels with no luggage, carrying a cell phone, and head straight for the elevators.
- Bring your own towel
- If questioned, do not confess on the spot
Providers:
- Prostitution is a low priority, but LE responds to hotel complaints, so do not make the hotel staff suspicious
- Lots of towels is a giveaway, so obtain and get rid of towels surreptitiously. Tip the maids so they do not rat you out.
- Do not pay in cash
- Do not request to change rooms in the same hotel for no reason
- Screening clients does not keep LE away (do it for safety reasons), they can just target the clients.
- LE is drawn to narcotics, human trafficking, and illegal immigration, so keep clean
- Arrests does not mean conviction. Convictions are rare. If arrested, do not confess, have the phone # of a lawyer.
- It's not mentioned in the article but I'll bet hotels also are more suspcicious of lone attractive, young, casually dressed women checking in. Less noticeable would be business travellers or couples.
- Guys, here's another, if you are early, do not loiter around the lobby waiting for the phone call. I've actually seen morons do this: they sit there waiting, checking their watches, then get a call, and then walk to the elevator. An hour later, they come out of the elevators and walk out the door. All in full view of the check in desk.
Stay safe everybody.

recently I was being interviewed for a state politically appointed JOB! the interviewer was a woman... and she had me go to the hotel she was staying at... and you guessed it... the 2-call system!
So here i was in the lobby with cell phone in hand swilling a tonic while waiting for the call! man... would I have liked to have been busted then..... Bwahahahaha!!!! the yolks on the govnt... AGAIN!
I'm thinking the big difference between these two circumstances is that you were having a 'drink' in a hotel lounge, and it doesn't sound like the 'outside room entrance on the 3rd floor' was at a hotel that would have had bar/restaurant facilities. That may not be entirely true of the hotel in the article, but at least you had other reasons for being at the hotel you were at (i.e. the bar).
an ulterior motive, planned excuse, a plausible spontaneous excuse for that fuck who is asking you, why you are or what you are doing in an establishment open to the public.
Why would anyone want to talk with strangers in the lobby or the parking lot, let alone volunteer information that is incriminating about an act that had already expired.
"I don't want to arrest you," Rufo said, trying to sound reassuring. "But if you don't tell the truth, I will."
The LE used the bait and intimidation tatic to get the John to confess, and many did.
If you are in that situation, how will you respond?
I am not surprised. Many professional recruiters use hotel rooms to meet prospective candidates. I am also aware that medical boards, when they conduct mass board review testing of physicians, they use hotel rooms for the in person questioning. There are lots and lots of legitimate business reasons to be in that kind of situation, which is why it's a great idea for providers to frequent hotels used for conferences and dress in a business suit when checking in and answering the door.
If I were running an agency, I would issued all employees nametags and business cards, "Vandalay Industries - Human Resources". That would also explain the presence of latex products ![]()
I believe it is "Art Vandalay"
Thank you
