Perhaps someone should enlighten this mad_traveler person that 12/14/05 has not yet happened.  Or, perhaps they can see into the future.  In that case, hey, mad, what are oil futures selling for in your space-time continum?  Also, I posted a reply to the guy calling us backward & dissing Frank Rizzo in doing so.  Check it out.

Could it be the erudite, articulate, master of the understatement Netmichelle, the one who trashed her potential clients BEFORE she came here?  Hey, we're just asking.  Didn't say it was you.  Anyway, that was the smoothest bit of PR I ever saw.

You of all people should recognize the M.O. of the pot stirrer who likes to pose as others and post stuff just to get a reaction.

Hmm..don't know where a remark like that directed to Me came from.

Next!

not to worry, who ever posted the message is dumb she could not even get the date correct, will not be 12/05 for while

Regardless of who made the post, I think there is some blame to be shared all around.  I, myself, have always tried to be a gentleman with a provider.  never negotiating price, never beggin for something not on the menu, etc.  Always being very respectful of their rules and limits.  If someone was not a good provider, the best thing to do is to NEVER go back.  I wonder how well that person did during the months (why stay for months?!?!) she was visiting our great city.

And there have been many a traveling provider who were not good.  Many an agency that was less than reputable.  But I think there is some of that in every city.  I have been to Atlanta and Orlando, and had very mixed results there, so I don't think Philly is alone in this quandry.  There are just some providers who are out to make a buck, and the quicker it ends, the better.  Obviously, not what we are all looking for.

That being said....guys from Philly have some blame as well.  I have talked to some outstanding local providers who get bullshit from the locals.  They get guys trying to negotiate the price, even some who tried not to pay.  And these are women who live in this fair city, and are great providers with whom I have always had an outstanding time.  I mean, come on, think about it.  It is just not going to happen for free, or even for $ or $$.  There are other places for that.  The truly great providers are going to be more.

I think it is time to become smart consumers.  If someone is a ripoff, use this board and the review sites to say so.  That provider won't last long.  Same goes if she is just not worth the price.  But at least have the human decency to use the services on her terms.  I think you all might just be surprised to find out there are some good women out there who provide a great service.

Sorry for the soapbox.  Good luck to everyone.

You said there is plenty of blame to spread around (or words to that effect).  Please, don't speak for me, speak for yourself.  If you got a group of the local ladies together - you know the ones we've sort of grown up with - and asked them about the behavior of the guys, the one ones who get out and play, I'll bet they would say the majority are well-behaved and respect the providers collective limits.  Most are NOT out there bargaining down prices, and cancelling.  Yeah, I've been vocal about prices, but I don't go out and bargain.  So don't tell me the blame is to be spread around. You're responsible for your own actions.  If the price is too high, ignore that one and go elsewhere.  That way, the market sets the price.  Got news for you brother -- all this discussion about prices is bringing in travellers.  Count the visitors - last count was 120 on eros, and that's for the week after Easter.  Wait till things get rolling again, and see how many come here. It can't be all bad here - there are alot of great ones from around the country who have been making visits here monthly.  Just looking at the facts.

You are probably right, nick.  I am sure that the majority of us are well-behaved and respectful.  I did not mean to imply that literally everyone is to blame.  As it works with other areas of life, there are usually a few black sheep that are bringing down the rest of us.  And unfortunately, perception becomes reality more often than not, so if Philly is perceived as a problem city, that will eventually turn into fact.

I agree that Philly has seen an influx of travellers, but I am not seeing as many repeaters as I used to.  Perhaps, I am a little out of it, as I usually don't use a traveling provider, but I check eros often just to see what's going on, and to see if any travellers who I did like are returning, and I haven't seen as much of that.  There could be many different reasons for that, though.

Your point about allowing the market to decide the price is right on target.  That is how it should work. If we think the price is too high, we should just not use the service.  But we shouldn't complain about the price, and irritate the provider with annoying negotiations before we use the service.  I don't go to a restaurant and start negotiating with the waiter about the price, but I might complain if the food or service is not adequate.  In this business, our way of letting our voices be heard is to post a review AFTER we use the service.  Enough bad reviews will adjust that price, or even put the provider out of business.

When all is said and done, we are each responsible for our actions, no doubt.  Hopefully, the few who may not be doing so will eventually realize how this all works.

I agree about rarely using traveling providers. I NEVER use traveling agencies. I will however see indy travelers, and like you, I check to see if the ones I would like to see are returning. That is important.
Check the boards and see terrific ladies like Gina, Lisa, Erin O'Bryn and Candace coming to town on a regular basis. It really makes ya feel good, cuz if we were cheap, rude and all those other things, these lovely ladies wouldnt be coming back.
On the same note, Candace makes a good point. They cant make plans to come here with no bookings and hope for the best. Sometimes they may need to cancel a trip, and thats understood, but hopefully, they will reschedule.

This post takes nothing away from the wonderful local ladies we have in Philly. They too deserve our utmost attention.

I was a frequent visitor to Philly and at a suggestion I returned.

What has to be said ... AND.. needs to be understood is that NO reputable provider is going to continue to visit a City that expects her to fly by the seat of her pants and accept last minute appointments with no verification or time to screen.

The hobbyist who want to actively enjoy the hobby in Philly need to either step up and respresent the hobby in your area or stay with the agencies, pay the agency rate and be happy (the last solution is just to settle with local talent.)

As I stated previously, after this trip I will only make visits to the area with intent to entertain established clients. It is one thing to convince providers to travel to your city is is another to be active in encouraging repeat visits.

I love you Nickde and I enjoy the City of Brotherly love- but I won't plan trips without knowing what is in store for me.
(* The fact that there was a huge shut down of professionally managed agencies during a visit recently really didn't add to my confidence of visiting Philly*)

just MHO kisses  Candace
