My friends,

It is what they told me it was - a cancer in the upper right lung & 3 lymph nodes.  I start chemo on Friday and continue every 3 weeks.  No radiation.

Best Wishes Carlton. Keep your spirits up. Everyone is rooting for you.

Good luck and God's speed!

PMA (positive mental attitude) - You're in our prayers.

I chose to not get radiation. I had my chemo every 3 weeks too. Adriamiacin (translates to red devil btw), cytoxin, and taxotere. You might want to take the proactive approach and stock up on food you don't like. For me, I started liking salty potato chips, crackers, grits, and food that slowly digests. I threw up about 30 times after my first cycle of chemo (about 5 hours later). Some people don't throw up at all. Drink ALOT of water. Keep something next to your bed in case you suddenly get sick. And, most doctors won't admit to this but they try to schedule the people with statistically higher rates of survival on Fridays. They expect them to go back to work after a short time. You can email me at [email protected] . I went through cancer hell and my father is the director of clinical studies at a famed cancer institute as well as an author on chemotherapy. xoxo

Dear Macy,
Taxotere - that's what I'm getting.  You know your stuff - thats damn near EVERYTHING my oncologist told me.  Back to work in a short time?  I plan on being in my office tomorrow afternoon!  The doctor looked at me like I had three heads and said I should feel up to it, that the issues generally happen the day or two after the treatment.  Told me to make sure to consume dietary supplements - suggested Ensure Plus 3x per day, something I actually like anyway.  I will win the race.

Hang in there Carl...you have the support of all of us!

Chin up! You can beat this!

and god bless!  you can beat this!

Wishing you a speedy recovery. My prayers are with you!

And, we are going to watch you WIN!

If it is anything like my experience, you will be pretty strong thru the first few courses, but it does wear you down over time.
You will need to remember to get your rest and try to keep up on your nutrition, ensure is good.  Keep in mind that, what you eat during chemo, might become your worst nightmare post chemo.

You WILL WIN!

I feel like $10 million in cash tax free. I was done with the treatment at 12:15, I went home and ate a good lunch, I went to my office for a couple hours, then went to a baseball game with my father. When my voice returns to strength and my swallowing improves, I will KNOW that I am now the hunter and no longer the hunted. Watch me win!!!
