Easy access- easy parking.  
Less interesting for  than center city but much easier access for clients

I am not a hobbyist but I recently stayed at a very nice (bit pricey) hotel in Center City. I was there for one day/night only but the lobby/restaurant were busy and it's a high rise with lots of rooms.

I feel it's the kind of place you can remain incognito. No keycard for the elevators and they didn't even ask for my ID just credit card.
