Had the same experience with yellow page ads. Pages and pages of half page ads, and when you called the same person answered

Our sports pages in the regular newspaper had tons of ads for strip clubs and MPs. The indies' ads were in the personals of the little "pennysaver" classified tabloids. (which also had a lot of MP ads also)

Majority of my expereince back in the day was with the SWs. While you never knew what you were going to get as far as performance, at least you knew what you were getting in appearance. Answering the phone book and newspaper ads you had no idea on either appearance or performance. I did eventually actually end up having some good SW experiences (no GFE but as good as you can expect for SW), despite my terrible start mentioned in the thread below. Had some good and some bad experiences answering ads. My first GFE was actually with a gal from an escort service out of a yellow page ad in Reno.

Thanks to the internet and TER, I haven't had a bad experience in a long time.

That all predates me.

But you can still find an agency advertising in the City Weekly as well as the occasional Indy. Never bit though.
