Does anyone have CONSTRUCTIVE suggestions on how we can improve the Other Cities board?

I'm noticing that a provider ad will get 4-5 pages back in a week.  Even if I broke the rules and allowed more than 1/week (hint:that's not gonna happen), that would just make it worse.

I'm open to suggestions.  You can PM me, but I'd prefer a dialogue here...

One things I've noticed about this board is that it's used primarily for providers ads. Any hobbyist dialogue that (I think) would ordinarily be here is on the ISO board. Several months ago when I first came to TER I got into some limited dialogue with other a few other hobbyists about providers in other cities, but those are few and far between. Maybe combine the two boards? I know it's not your call, but just a thought.//jhb//

even the other boards a woman can post and get buried if there are providers that monoplize the board in just one thread or playng...its difficult these days as our schedules have to change sometimes within a week due to lack of response.....its tough when you are buried 3 pages back to update or evenget noticed...I dont know what the answer is but there should be a rule so you can "alter" your schedule change

But it needs to be with the original post.  As you say, that's often several pages back.

I really would like to increase the sense of community here, but any posts that aren't ads make it worse for the lady getting bumped off the front page.  The good news is that the software is set to 25 topics/page, so if we stay on one, it almost doesn't count!!  

I've gotten a PM to split out some cities to their own board.  Personally, I think that's worth looking into, but to be fair, I have less than no say about that.  Still, if anyone has feedback of cities that get enough traffic here to warrant a split, I'm all ears (isn't that a scary visual?)

I'm in a good mood today, so if you're extra nice, maybe I'll be nice back.  Something to think about for anyone that's moderated, and has a useful idea that they'd like to share with the group!

I'm kind of surprised some cities/locations have their own board (like New Mexico and Portland) have their own boards and others of similar size or larger (like Denver and SLC) don't...

Although I'm not sure that adding additional "Other Cities" boards is the answer, two possibilities come to mind.

1) Separate the "Other Cities" into two separate boards.  One for ads, and one for discussion.

2) Separate the existing board into four separate boards.  One for each timezone across North America.  Maybe an additional international board bringing the total to 5.

What about adding regions, like Southwest, Southeast or even more general like North, South, East, West instead of the "Other Cities" category. At least that way New Orleans and Baltimore aren't mixed in with each other...

I rarely check this board, but have been traveling of late - one constructive suggestion is to ID the location of the provider ad in the header for those of us that are interested in a specific geography.  EX:  Nashville - Provider's Subject line.  Doesn't address the bump factor you mentioned, but would make scanning the OC Board a lot easier and still gives the Provider room for creativity.

I have wondered why TER doesn't have a TN board.  There seems to be plenty of traffic on this board which might suggest that it might even get more traffic if introduced on its on.  People from TN are looking for new places to post with all the recent drama other places.
