@ work, while this was probably a joke & I have no interest in showing him TER. Is this something a normal conversation at work? I've been working in the corporate world for ten years plus and this was the first time the hobby was mentioned so obviously in a conversation of more than two people. I have recently moved into a management position so it would make sense (additional income, etc). What are your experiences?
with a co-worker, even one who seems trustworthy and sympathetic to the hobby. Just play dumb and pretend you don't know anything.
I can't count the number of gossiping, duplicitous snakes I've run into after 30 years in the corporate world. Even people I thought were on my team stabbed me in the back the first chance they thought it would do them some good.
If you want to end your career fast, just tell someone at work that you hobby. And then count how long it takes for it to make it's way around the company. If you're in a management position, they'll mail you your last paycheck after you've been escorted out.
Companies don't mess around these days. All it takes is one female employee to find out that you see prostitutes and you're looking for a new job.
I have the same issue - I feel like taking a provider out for dinner, but then what you just wrote above stops me - she does show her face on her profile, so I keep wondering - What if we run into someone who knows me personally, and has perhaps seen her pics too? What would be the chances of that happening?
if you reveal you are a hobbyist. Have you considered that this person may be setting you up? What if somehow, someone got hold your browsing history on your PC, laptop, PDA, Smart phone, etc.
This may sound paranoid, but many sneaky things happen in the work place. A friend was set up by an underling, in which she flirted with my friend for months and then charged him with sexual harrassment. He was let go of his job - he was dumb enough to appear close to crossing the line and paid a heavy price by losing his job.
Don't be a fool, don't trust people at work with your personal life, they will use it to their advantage if you let them. It's a dog eat dog world. You'd be a fool to discuss it
It's no ones business. There is nothing positive that can come out of a discussion of the hobby with a fellow worker, or for that matter anyone.
As for the other post about being seen in public with a provider. I've taken my atf for dinner, never a problem. If I ran into someone I know, I'd tell the truth. I met her on the internet. Ever heard of match.com or E Harmony.
