I'm just completing 2 years of advanced golf swing instruction and have the required skills to take someone through all the swing mechanics from grip, stance, hip / shoulder rotation, backswing, downswing, wrist position and supination.  The average beginner will typically take 12-18 months to master these techniques, but someone that practices a lot can get through it in 6 months...all depends on the player.
