wondered how there are so many "reads" to a thread, but so few people actually posting?  Are there really that many people just lurking.  I am a little creeped out.  Will someone hold me?

Unless there's like a handful of people who just like reading the same shit over and over again. In any event, I'll hold you. I'll even sing you a little song and tell you everything's gonna be okay.

...why do posts with "Eom", "-e", "end", etc get so many stinking reads?  Everyone know that means End of Message?

Yes, we understand what it means.  But sometimes there are actually comments in a post that has eom or -2 in the subject line.  It takes but a second to click on it and make sure.

Speaking for myself, I often read many of the posts here but in most cases they're just what I view as banter between the regulars here and there's no reason to reply. If I can answer a question or I think something is worth replying to i'll reply, most times there's no reason to reply.

I do this all the time, and I know what those things mean.

Red is right that sometimes people use it incorrectly. But upon analysis of my own actions, I realized that I click as I am reading the title. I don't read... then click. That would take a fraction longer, and I guess I already feel reading this forum takes longer than it should because of the silly interface (which sucks). When you compare it to other forums, it feels archaic and clunky.

I'm usually browsing on my phone, so I accidentally click on those with considerable frequency.
