So I am speaking at the college on Monday in regards to the Legalization of Prostitution and Human Trafficking at a Moral Ethics class. I am SO nervous, and I am just going to be me, but does anyone have any pointers or advice??

That's pretty a cool gig. Someone out there knows what they're doing. But you know the saying: Imagine everyone in their underwear. Oh, that may not be the right thing for you to do....

Just be honest and be yourself.

Sorry that I'm unable to offer something more profound. :-(

Obviously I've never spoken on this particular topic, but I've done a few guest lectures on other stuff. It's all the same. Just relax, crack a few jokes, and make sure you leave PLENTY of time for Q&A at the end.

Are you sure? Imagine a crowd of college kids in their underwear listening to you speak. Who cares if it's a class?

I co-sign this idea. UC has some hotties.

this has no upside for you.  Period.

This lifestyle will never be accepted.  People look down on us while secretly participating or wanting to participate in this life.

I would NEVER divulge my participation in this lifestyle.

Why would I?

It can't help and can only hurt.  (my wife, kids, friends relatives, etc.)

Have you thought about someone other than yourself being affected by your speech?

Are you talking to me or to Ally? Because I'm not the one giving the lecture.

it will be decriminalized. Maybe not accepted into mainstream but think about pot use 35 yrs ago and how unacceptable it was. Its changed, porn is more mainstream now than it has ever been, fewer people are religious, 1 in 5 claims to have no religion, more and more relationships are "open" than ever before.
The more we spend on our prisons the faster non-violent crimes will be overlooked or decriminalized.

Ummm it's teaching the students what this lifestyle is really about rather than them having a stereotype about it, so why wouldn't I want to speak at it?? I am single, so therefore I can decide things on my own, and I believe this is a great opportunity.

Have your thoughts organized and well written. Use note cards and run through them a few times in front of a mirror. Make eye contact with as many of the students as possible. Speak about what you KNOW not what you think you know. Dress conservatively, make the content of your speech the students focus, not your double DD's, lol. Remember to breath while speaking and slow down. When nervous people tend to speak quickly and even well thought out speeches can turn in to one long run-on paragraph. Try to memorize as much of your speech as possible so your only checking your notes and not just dictating info to the students. Agree with Tobi, leave plenty of time for Q & A. Most of the students will have questions since I believe everyone has heard of our hobby but very few have any actually experience with it. Oh yeah, go to the bathroom right before and avoid caffine or stimulants before you speak. Good luck!!

In front of my classes, I treat my lecture/interaction like a resource, but only after preparing. Breathe easily, move around, and use your hands to illustrate points.
Moving from side to side allows you to interact more naturally with the room, sharing your lecture- the "resource"- with the entire audience. It engages them and assures you that you can alter your presentation to fit the tone of the room.
Good luck!

It definitely helps pay for these absurdly overpriced textbooks.

How dare you say anything negative about Ally. Don't you know that's not allowed on this board. If you upset her, she may stop posting those beautiful pictures of herself in the nude. OH NO! Shame on you.

I know some might see the one comment as rude but I kind of agree with Ridgetucky. I don't personally see any upside in divulging being a provider. And you can't really tell anyone who doesn't know the terms, that you are a provider. You would say hooker, prostitute or an escort. When you say escort everyone in the room will automatically think " oh hooker".

I know that you and anyone who would speak on the topic have nothing but the best intentions at heart. Just be careful and think if this is something you will do and be proud of 5,10 or even 20 years from now then go for it. I was offered and came close to shooting porn a few times in my early 20s and the money was great but I turned it down. I am glad I did. No one knows what I do, and I prefer it that way. I love what I do but I have a major dream/goal that I am working on and one day will have to walk away from this.

On this topic people have their own opinions and it is hard to change someone's opinions of prostitution. Some view it as seedy, dark and demoralizing. Certainly there are more sides to it but myself personally ill just do what I do and not worry about what others think about it.

I love that you are discussing a real issue like human trafficking. I would of just stuck to that topic and left out the prostitution bit. That would be just me. I personally think that is a real problem.

I have heard great things about you and you seem like a great woman and I wish you nothing but the best!! Stand strong and confidant and breathe. Once you begin talking you will be just fine.

Thanks for the advice Sid. I didn't get to pick the topic, that is what the students are studying currently, and why I have been asked to speak about it.
