I see so many ads on CL, newyork.backpage.com etc. that are not TER reviewed at all I am wondering if some of them are postings for entrapment. Has anyone ever heard a story like that? Just wondering...

Some are postings by LE to be sure but many are just plain old bad service or out and out rip-offs.

Entrapment is illegal, LE stings are quite legal, and yes it is not unheard of for LE to launch stings for unsuspecting hobbyists, and also to do the same to providers.

Your best bet is to stick to well reviewed providers and leave the unreviewed ones for someone else to TOFTT.

Newbies should always stick with well-reviewed providers.

CL & other low cost advertizing is a Favorite hunting place for LE.  On the other hand, the majority of ads are not LE.  Unfortunately, there's no way to tell the differance until you have the shiny braclets on you.  
CL & other low cost advertizing is a favorite of part time providers, co-eds & the like...  but the service varies widely from great to all of the scams.  Been there done that!

Among experienced hobbiests, there are always some who will crank up their spidey senses & TOFTT...  with varying success.  
For newbies, the best bet is to stick with well reviewed providers.  I'm not saying to never TOFTT, just put it asside for now & circle back when you have more experience.  

You will need TER VIP.  Once you have studied the Newbie Manual (link at the top of this board) & read back several pages here...  get VIP.  You'll be able to use TERs PM system.  You'll look through the recent reviews in your area.  You'll read the current ads onb your local board.  Then you can select someone who meets your needs & desires.  You'll learn from each experience & become more skilled at selecting partners.

thanks - just wondering if this has happened to anyone: you show up at a place after calling an ad on CL and bang, someone puts handcuffs on you right there and then.

the news is full of stories about LE stings.

If an arrest for solicitation would ruin your life, stick to well reviewed providers and stay away from BP and CL unless the provider has mulitple reviews on TER.
