as a fairly new guy in the hobby you may want to ask if the provider provides references B4 you make the appt.  Why, at this time, would you see someone not willing to offer you that very important service?  Someone well established might not care as much.

I saw a fantastic woman last night but forgot to ask if she'd mind serving as a reference for future verification until I'm better established. For some reason, I feel awkward about it.
If I send her a nice e-mail, do you all think that's cool?

Certainly you can ask her! I usually tell my gents that they can use me as a ref, but occasionally, I'll forget to mention it. Most of us have NO problem giving refs as we know its to keep everyone safe! Not to mention, it saves time if you know already that shes ok with it. I cant tell you the number of times guys have given me a ref, and the girl refuses to reference ANYBODY!! These poor guys think that she will, and are totally surprised when I tell them she refused or, more likely, totally ignored my request! When that happens, its a complete waste on my time and the gents!

I waited 'til after the second date before asking.  Also, it's good if they're on P411 (and presumably the others, though I'm not a member) because all you have to do after asking her is click on "Provider OK."  Once she accepts that it's in your account and other providers need only to go your profile to see who's OK'd you.  Much simpler than having to call someone who may not take your call.

I  only ask to use her as reference if we'd meet at least a few times. But that's just my opinion.

I've heard people advise against that because then you're making her think an approval is your price for wanting to see her.  Not very GFE from the client side. Personally, I haven't tried it and would be uncomfortable doing it that way.  Glad you wouldn't mind, though.

Most ladies are cool with that as we need the favor to come back to us. I like when a guy asks me first to give him a reference as I never know if it's not his wife trying to get a confirmation of her suspicions cause she infiltrated his emails. Hey, I've seen it all lol!
