Hope I can get some info here. I have a hobby phone that I use, refilling it with prepaid phone cards. I just gave a phony name and a hobby-dedicated e-mail address, and it all works well.
I'm thinking about getting a pre-paid credit card for occasional use. My question is: Can I do this without having to give my real name and address? Something makes me think that I can't.
Most of these cards can be reloaded at check cashing places or Western Union. I would not suggest heavy usage of these cards. A friend of mine was living in Hotels and motels paying with one of these cards. Did not work well. Hotels and motels would place holds on the money in advance making it difficult to plan and budget. The companies that manage these accounts can be difficult and slow to resolve disputed charges.
.....to compensate your date, you need to ask them if this okay, before doing so. Many businesses do not accept pre-paid cards. There are other options, and if you would like more info, you can pm me.
The ones I have seen at walgreens etc., You pay 4.95 for them plus the amount you want to preload on them, and you can buy reloading cards afterwards, but you still need your info including ss number to register them, before you can use them.
Yeah. That's my question. Not how easy they are to get...but rather, how anonymous they are. If I have to give a SSN or a home address, then I'm not interested.
That's what I thought you were asking, and it didn't seem like anyone answered your question. All the cards I have seen require personal info to activate, so I do not think there is an anonymous credit card. Yes you can get prepaid cards that are not tied to your bank account, but they are still tied to you. Cash is the only way to be anonymous.
