That's one thing that occasionally happens. You can't place a link to your info when you post a photo in your regional board's photo theme thread. That makes it an ad.
Other chicks complain about what you post, they will say its an ad

He didn't say you can't put your link in a post. He said you can't put your link in your OP. (ie threadstarter). What he said is correct.
Here are the rules from TER policies:
Providers may not include a link to their website/web ad when starting a thread.
By participating in the discussions on TER discussion boards, you can greatly increase your visibility and give potential clients the opportunity to get to know you better. You may include your link in messages, (except if you start a thread, the link is not allowed in the OP), you contribute to on any TER discussion board, that does not count toward your ad limit. In fact, you are encouraged to include your link, because it helps everyone get to know you better. Putting photo's into non ad related replies to threads is not allowed, unless the thread you are replying to is about posting photo's of yourself and other provider's. Just please make those linked messages meaningful, entertaining, or helpful contributions.

I also found this somewhere else on TER sometime ago but can't find it now. It did include a statement about providers are encouraged to place links in their posts but not in thread originating posts.
