es*orts.com now requires all free members to put in a credit card to keep their free profile.(for providers) The credit card will not be charged but simply used for "age verification". After 11/11/10 all free profiles without credit cards on file will be deleted.
I'm alarmed at putting my credit card information as it has my real name and address. I'm afraid if LE wanted to crack down on my area it would not be hard for the website to give them my info and then I'm in trouble.(they say they won't share it with any parties, but the gov't in not a private party per say)
What do you think?I get a lot of business from their website and I want to continue to use it. Also I have many reviews on there as well I would like to keep! Is there a danger of LE by providing my credit card to their website? Advice anyone?
They've been raided by the IRS and the FBI. There's no way in HELL they are getting MY credit card info. It's a hit to many of us. Chalk it up as a loss and find somewhere else to advertise.
Even though the site has generated a lot of business and reviews for you, at this time, I think the best thing for you to do is NOT provide your cc# and just move on . Once the dust settles, you can always comply with the sites request for a cc . You might want to post this on the legal board, Good luck IANAL (I am not a lawyer)
I know about phising schemes and such. I know this a legit. I've been buying things online for 6+ years and my identity has never been stolen. But thanks for your concearn!

site or as a reply to an e-mail. Identity theft is a very lucrative business that takes advantage of unsuspecting individuals.
According to most people in the know, it is now being operated by LE, do you really want them knowing any more about you than they already do?
If you give them your CC or SS or DL information, you have no "plausible deniability" in the event they escalate and go after you simply for your web ads. Whether they can actually build a case against you is an argument for another time and place, but do you really want to give a site run by LE anymore ammunition than they already have?
when you are making an online purchase. When you purchase items online the https// should be in-place instead of just http//. Yes, the "s" means secure.
Not sure about using a CC# for age verification though.
I have a prepaid, fake info of course but they did age verify me for the card. I will try inputting it and see what happens. If it works I will email you which one
