You could stay at your friend's home, (I'd personally rather be a hotel guest than a houseguest but that's just me) and since you'll have a car you can offer outcall.   A lot of visiting ladies don't offer outcall so that will set you apart right there.

But at least during the daytime, incall is generally far more popular with clients.  So reserve a hotel with easy short-notice cancellation policies; once you have a confirmed booking, go check into your room.  Then keep it for additional dates that day & the following morning.  At that time, if you don't have anything else scheduled, check out.  Reserve another room elsewhere for other potential bookings.  Repeat.  

Just because you get a room for incall doesn't mean you cannot stay with your friend.  And outcall only might not work.

I mean, I won't entertain clients in my home and I don't offer outcall only. Outcalls are too stressful for me so I don't offer that, ever.    Most weeks, I pay for a hotel room reservation from Sunday night till Friday or Saturday morning checkout.   But I go home every evening and sleep in my own bed.  With my dogs lol.  
That room is my "office" and nothing more.  

 I'll be doing the travelling/touring thing soon too, and I might even have 2 rooms: one for entertaining and one just for me:  my own private space.

Otherwise I'd be spending for a motel room in addition to the donation.

But when the gal and I are close enough that she is comfortable coming to my place, then out-call would be fine

I prefer incall.  It makes things easier for me.

....located in heavily congested areas that have terrible parking options. For that reason I'd rather just rent a room myself in a more quiet and desirable area near my job and have her do an outcall.

Incall

You will definitely want to have an incall location. You can always take half a day or full day off when you want to stay at your friends place and relax a bit.

2 or 3 weeks before u travel post a traveling ad on TER for the city u r traveling to. This will help u determine how busy u will be and if u need an incall place every night u r there. U may want to plan based on your appts

Do Both

Do both, I am unaware of what city you'll be in but based off my experiences in SC, the incalls are good. Just do a thorough screening.

Doing both seems to be the general consensus and the best idea for me. I will have to do research on the hotel location and it's accessibility (thanks for mentioning that Lopaw), maybe I'll ask about that on the Carolinas board.
