Who are these people?

On the various discussion board, the posts tend to come from three categories of people: (a) people who are obviously providers (because next to their handle it says *see my TER reviews*); (b) people who are obviously hobbyists (because it says so-and-so has X number of reviews); and (c) people who are flying under the radar using an alias (because they do not have the little envelope icon showing you that you can PM them; apparently you cannot PM an alias).

But then there's this 4th category, the most mysterious of all.  They have the envelope icon next to their name, so they are using their TER handle, not an alias.  Yet they have no reviews about themselves, and have posted no reviews.

Who are they?  They seem to be neither fish nor fowl?  Are they agencies, shills, LE or what?

Some hobbyists do not post reviews.  Some providers do not have or do not link to their profiles. Some may be agencies and some (particulary on this board) may simply be new.

BTW:  One must be a VIP member to have TER PM ability...

I post on my regional board, asking about decent providers in my state (NJ), where we are having serious problems with fake reviews.  I get a response from a guy using his TER handle, but he has no reviews, and he basically tries to point me to ads on EROS, which are all agency ads of girls who have never been reviewed on TER.  My gut reaction is this guy is just a shill for an agency.  I am getting a little sick of fake posts on regional boards that are really just ads, or fake reviews.  I am beginning to wonder what means might exist for weeding out the bogus ads, because they are really a pain.

Doing your homework by researching reviews is the best tool (although not only tool) you have to weed out rip-offs, poor service, fake reviews, etc.

Look for a recent history of well-documented consistent performance.  In addition examine the review history of the reviewers especially if the number of reviews for a given lady is on the slight side. Is there history there for these hobbyists and are their evaluations more or less consistent with other reviews about the same lady?

Yes, weeding out whatever may be undesirable for you does require a little bit of time investment on your part.  But over time you wil learn to spot red flags and depending upon your own risk aversion and or tolerance level, you will learn when it is best to bite or to move on...
