I have been doing this for about 4 months now and was wondering how many reviews or how long do you have to be hobbying to be not a newbie

myself a newbie but I do read this board from time to time and offer advice when appropriate.  One can always pick up a pointer or two or maybe discover a new lady they would like to meet by checking out this board.

Hobby safe.

There are no such thing as experts, only people with varying amounts of knowledge.

This is my favorite board, after The Erotic Highway, because I continue to learn so much from it.

1. You roll your eyes everytime you see a "what's with all the abbreviations/acronyms?" post.

2. You accept the fact that the hobby is risky on various levels and no longer look for absolute assurance that you won't get stung.

3. Providers look at your review credentials and forego further screening protocols.

4. You can peruse Craigslist and smell an agency, a RipOff, a Bait & Switch, or an LE sting as easily as you can smell a fresh dog turd next to your computer monitor.

You can be sure you are not a newbie anymore.  Maybe you could look at it from a sports perspective...once you are in your second year of playing, you are now a veteran.  Eight good reviews indicates that you are in the running for Rookie of the Year...keep it up, dude!

I think you make the transition over from Newbie to Veteran Hobbyist when you know how to handle yourself before during and after a session.

Hardy's RULES to becoming a Pro:

1. You make initial contact with a provider as SHE wishes and requests (i.e. by E-mail, text, phone, etc.)

2. You are able to communicate to her exactly when and where you wish to see. Have a specific agenda in mind, prior to contacting her. Your sole purpose of the initial contact is to set up the appointment. Period, nothing more, nothing less. NEVER ask any inappropriate or idle questions (obviously nothing of a sexual overtone but also do not ask her what her rates are or her physical stats if all this information is clearly defined on her web site). Remember, this is your first impression; do not do anything that would jeopardize even getting an appointment.

3. You show up ON TIME for your session. Do not show up a 1/2 hour early and linger outside her door or building. You want to do nothing that will draw attention to your presence.

4. You walk into her apartment or room with an air of confidence and professionalism (i.e. greet her with a nice hug) and make the lady feel comfortable and safe with your presence. This is extremely important as the safety of the provider is paramount. Remember, the provider is 1000 times more nervous about meeting a new client, than the hobbyist is about seeing a provider. You want the lady to relax as much as possible.  

5. You place the appropriate donation (which you have already counted out and put in an unsealed envelope) immediately in plain view on a desk or table (or if she prefers on the bathroom counter). Do NOT start counting money in front of the lady. Second, never talk about the donation, ever. And please NEVER make the provider have to ask you for the donation. It places both parties in an unnecessary and awkward position.

6. You begin your session with some small talk, again, to make the provider at ease to spend time with you. You want her to be glad you are there.

7. You move things along at a pace you are BOTH comfortable with. If you are nervous and do not know when to proceed to the main event, follow the lead of the provider. She will make sure things move along per your appointment.

8. During the session, and this is paramount, you NEVER NEVER make the provider feel nervous, unsafe or cause her any physical harm. If she tells you to stop doing something (i.e. you are slapping her ass too hard, or biting her nipples too hard) then STOP. PERIOD. Just enjoy the sex.

9. After the session is done, RESPECT THE PROVIDER'S TIME. Do not linger about and expect that the lady is there to entertain to you for the rest of the day. Her time is valuable and have the sense to recognize it. If you have paid for an hour, you should be out of there as close to the hour as possible.  

10. With a nice hug and if she is okay with it a kiss, thank the lady for her time and leave with the same confidence and professionalism that you came in with.

11. If you want to send the lady a thank you E-mail, then feel free to go ahead. But do this ONLY ONE TIME> DO NOT continuously call her or E-mail her to just shoot the breeze. She is not there at this point to make small talk with you. If you have no intentions of making another appointment, do not bother the lady. Again, her time is valuable and you should not waste it.

Becoming a seasoned hobbyist has nothing to do with number of reviews you write. My belief is that when you can follow the above steps every time, then I would consider you to be a seasoned hobbyist. This may take you 2 sessions to master or it may take 200 sessions. There are no rules.

I have been hobbying for just under two and a half years, and do not consider myself a complete newbie.  Like keystone said, this board still provides me with information and I read it daily.  Occasionally, I even offer some advice too.

The hobby is a learning experience and no matter how longer we are involved here, there is still something to learn.

Hardy and RR summed it up the best IMHO.  You determine when you are no longer a newbie.  However, I would say four months is a little soon to get out of the newbie mode, but that is up to you.

Just a friendly reminder that providers are in the same newbie category. I myself will consider being a newbie till the day I retire. I'm always learning and open to trying new things. I have been around for some years and sure would miss all the fun

which may not happen till i'm over 70

Been hobbying for nearly three years now, and I still learn from all the folks on this site, and from the ladies and gents that I've met.

Certainly not an oldie.

Every time you see an attractive woman in public who you want to screw, you wonder what her rates are. If you haven't reached that point yet, you're still a newbie.

If you decide to remain having fun until you are 70, you still have 25 or 30 years left ahead of you to continue to learn and have fun!

Think of all the new experiences you will have!

I have only been at this a few months and did endless searches and reading to get most of the information in this post.  I WISH this had been available to me when I started.  Maybe a few extra things about hygiene.  Well groomed, teeth brushed, showered, clean hair.  I assumed all but the well groomed part.  I didn't know what that meant.  I am naturally very hairy and at first the providers were picking hairs out of their mouth every few seconds.  Bad for me and bad for them.  I shaved tons of hair off and now I could not be happier and I am sure they are happier too.  Less hair also equals more sensitivity to what is happening and that is always a good thing.  Excellent Post!!!

I have similar thoughts but instead think of what she could get if she were a provider.  Mostly I look at sour faced civies that are being pampered by some guy and think how much better he could do as a hobbyist. I rarely see someone on the street that is as hot as what is available on TER.  It is true.

ROFLMAF!!! Or when a provider tells you what floor to go to at her hotel and then call... and you can already figure out what room she is in when you get there, before you call her back!!!
