I was reading the erotic highway board and notice there was a discussion where someone stated they used an alias in their previous post. Just wondering and trying to get a feel for how things are on the boards.
Let's suppose that I spent time with Sophie (haven't) and had a question about whether my experience was unique. If my review of her had just been approved, and I ask a question about a recent date, it wouldn't take much to connect my question to her name. If my time wasn't great, and let's say that it was my fault, it wouldn't be fair to tag her as part of the problem.
Many times, an alias is used to hide. Every once in a while, that hiding is a good thing.
For whatever reason that person wants to say something but doesn't want to take responsibility for that statement. Lots of TERers judge those who use an alias as being cowards or annoyances. The other argument is that we are ALL using aliases anyway; why should it matter if a person has several aliases.
If you use an alias to be mean and nasty, get ready to be creamed on the boards. If the alias is to discuss a sensitive issue, it's not perceived as "wrong."
I use this screen name to protect the innocent (the delightful ladies who see me) and the guilty (me). My main screen name is linked to my reviews... skb 7 TER reviews
2. The creation of a character(literary license) to be used in an informative, fun, innocuously sarcastic, philanthropic, as well as topical way.
3. Anonymity for when regional or associational sensitivities may be of concern.
4. Innocuous playing of "devils advocate" in a discussion or debate where one wishes to not be further/future aligned with one opinion or another.
5. Avoidance of suffering political fallout for a comment that may have been misread in a possibly volatile discussion.
6. aliases may be used for posting investigative reports, meet & greet announcements, helpful advice, or other similar types of useful information where the use of a user-name could prove problematic.
7. To 'classify' the content of the posts. (You can surmise a post's cant when you see an alias like 'DelusionalDivaDetector'
8. Concerns in revealing your review history.
9. Ability to contribute where you would otherwise feel embarrassed to speak candidly.
The way I see it the term alias AS USED on this board is any name other than the one on your TER birth certificate. For the purpose of this board The name on your TER birth certificate is your "real name" and any other name you use is an alias As for me, I suppose, technically, you could say I have numerous aliases, however since the Followme family is so large I allow my cousins and other family menbers to sign on using my TER log in name then go to their names such as SantaFollowmeClaus FatherFollowme EasterFollowmeBunny PopeFollowmeLXIX DrFollowmeOBGYN RabbiFollowme Followmeopolis FollowmeESQ ChefFollowme OldFollowmePhilosopher DeepFollowmeKisser to name just a few of my family (there are many others ) So technically these are aliases , however in my case they are all real members of the followme family. To the best of my knowledge they do behave themselves.
