IMHO, if you are diligent in your research, your chances of catching something from a well-reviewed provider are pretty slim, whether she is with an agency or is an indie. There is no way to know how often any provider gets tested for STD's, short of asking her. But, even if she was tested, say 2 weeks ago, you have no way to know if she picked up something in the time since the test.
I repeat my advice, stick to well-reviewed providers, and you will be pretty safe, agency or indie.

...however I have never caught anything from an independent either. I don't think you can just assume agency providers are more likely to give you something. Like swim said do your research, read the reviews. A good provider is a good provider where ever she is.

And how do you know this? If they're telling you (as you say) they're getting tested...why do you assume they aren't?
And the truth is that they are like most of the population, which means they aren't getting tested regularly. Most people, if they are lucky, end up getting tested as a matter of course when they see their physician and when they can just get tested for HIV along with all the rest of the stuff in their bloodwork as far of their regular physical (cholesterol levels, blood sugar, etc.). Or they get an HIV test when they get scared into it (they had a questionable sexual encounter).
Ask around, and I can almost guarantee that you will find that people do not get tested every six to 12 months if they are sexually active.
Point is...to assume they are getting tested regularly just because they SAY they are is horseshit. Most agencies don't even require a girl to show her HIV status before they hire her. I know many escorts and providers, and I have yet to hear of anyone who said that an agency required proof of their sexual disease history, much less a regular update.
I don't go around asking how often my guys get tested when I provide bbbj, because that's my own damn fault. If you are worried about catching something, don't engage in anything uncovered.
