Verification at work when I work offsite & for a small company...

So, not only do I work for a small company where questions might be asked if a strange lady ends up calling to verify my employment, but I don't actually work in the office.  To sumarize, no extension, no opportunity to make a phone call from a work number, small company.  Are there any good alternative ways of verification that a lady might be happy with?  Or am I somewhat screwed?

Some actually do want to talk to you at work., Most just want to verify you work there, and that the company is legit.  They may call pretending to be a dentist office/doctor office reminding you of an appointment, or a bank or insurance company trying to confirm you work there etc. With some ladies you can make arrangements with them ahead of time for who they will pretend to be when calling for you. This makes sense especially in a small company. For example if the company is small the person ansering the phone may already know your dentist or doctor or bank etc, and a call from something like that may raise suspicions.

Best bet is to contact some ladies and explain your situation to them and some will work with you, or come up with another way to screen you, and some won't.

Another option of course is to join P411.

But no, you are not screwed. Just may need to think outside the box.

For the most part we just want to know that you are who you say you are.

Perhaps a thorough and active LinkedIn or Facebook account or some other social media

I had a similar situation, working for a small company and not always being there.  My other problem is when I am there I commonly answer the phone.  I brought it up and a provider commented on my problem, after back and forth a little I emailed her and gave her my work info.  I'm not sure she ever even called, but she emailed me that it would be ok to meet her.  She is well reviewed and I was a little suprised.  My advice is to be honest with them and let them decided if they will see you, get back to them promptly and don't keep them waiting.  With any luck they will see you!!

The providers want to know that you actually do work for that company and will use an excuse like mentioned previously.  Whether or not they actually talk to you is not really necessary, as long as they verify that you are a real employee.  This reassures her that you are not LE.

As also mentioned, there are the verification sites, Preferred411, DateCheck, and RoomService2000 (most popular in the midwest).  I belong to P411 and DC, and once the site verifies you, providers that are members can give you references like the Whitelist on this site.  This allows other providers to see you are pretty much OK to see.

Sorry, but even when I worked from home doing data entry, there was a record of me at an office and I had a voice mail that was forwarded to my cell phone. I would never see a guy with no more than that to go on, but hey...some ladies will. If preferred411 can't verify you, I would say you are pretty much screwed for seeing a quality lady, but not any lady.

used to work for large consumer products company that only contact with sales reps was to call and leave info on voice mail.  then I would call back at my convenience.  clients were not able to call and talk to you directly.  how would that work for verification of work.  If you called corporate office they would simply direct your call to the mail box.

That would be proof that YOU knew someone had called for you, and when.

I am in a somewhat similar situation. I have been to my corporate office about four times over the years and had to use GPS to get there.  When I did a refi I found out they use verify[.]com. Was wondering if anyone has used it (I didn't) or would be of value for employment verification with providers.
