I am 68 years old and still very active.  I have been retired for some time and my ex boss is also a good friend of the family and I would not wish him to be involved in the verification process.
How do I go about getting verified?

Hi Merlin,
The verification process is different per provider.  A retired gent is fairly common, there are other ways to verify other than employment in the retired instance.  You have reviews so possibly the ladies you met would provide references.  If not and you are hitting road blocks the pre verification sites may be an option for you. They too are familiar with a retired gent. Where there is a will there is a way as they say.

Date Check, or Preferred411, you could ask if she would sponsor you on one of those sites, or both.  On P411, providers can indicate if they are newbie friendly, which, with only 2 reviews, you sorta are.  If you get on that site, look for newbie providers.

This site is also a good place to look for newbie friendly providers.  Also suggest you start posting on your regional board, so providers, and hobbyists, will know you are legit.  That goes a long way.  Many veterans, both men and women, are somewhat reluctant to recommend someone they nothing about.  Posting will give them an idea as to your personality, as well as boosting your standing in the hobby.

Good luck,
Swim

PS, if your reviewed ladies are TER members, you might ask them to give you a whitelist referral.  While that is not always something providers look at, it never hurts to have as much backing as you can.  If you see members of the verification sites, you can ask them to give you a ref or an ok too.
