I don't take references from agencies, unless they are also corroborated by an independent. There are a few reasons for this:
1) I used to work for agencies and I know that several of them not only don't screen, but also don't have very high standards for their clients' behavior.
2) The person giving the reference is not the same person who spent time with the client. Girls don't always tell the agency owner what goes on in session, and even if a girl complains about a guy, the agency may keep him and his $$ on the roster.
3) Not always a fan of agency guys. It's absolutely true that nice guys use agencies, too. But, *some* guys who book a lot w/agencies have a certain mentality. I guess the agency business model - last-minute availability, lots of girls on roster, shorter dates, convenience above all else - attracts a certain type of person.
I'll make exceptions sometimes if a guy seems really nice and I get a good vibe...if his behavior with me speaks for his decorum and respectfulness. As always, YMMV.
I've had a few prospective clients provide me with local agencies as references. The one time I even tried to get verification from one, it was impossible. Will agencies even give references to indy girls? Should I just require that references have to be from independent ladies?
I was connected to a very well established agency in Boston, and friendly with the owner. She gave me a stellar reference for years.
Why refuse to accept that reference? Wouldn't it be better to just make it clear to the guy that he should contact the agency first to be sure they are reference-friendly?
Some agencies will give references. Some won't. The guy should check on that first before using them as a reference. From your position it's about whether the agency is reputable and if a reference from them is credible. Seems once you know that then it would be like any other reference. You only accept the ones you know you can depend on. I wouldn't automatically discount them just because it's an agency.

to the actual provider the guy saw in most cases. You have the owner simply saying, "Yes, we have sent girls to him" and not had any complaints, but very rarely does the owner offer specific details such as age, race, weight, how he was bcd. We only keep records of assholes ha ha. I can say that Apres Vous, has never let me down when asking for a reference, but I was also never allowed to contact the provider directly. I always spoke to Renee, who has he act together.
