I've only been a member for a few months, but I've seen where this is an ongoing problem, so let me share some tidbits of advice for all you beautiful ladies:
1st: Copyright law when it comes to photographs. The PHOTOGRAPHER OWNS the rights to YOUR image, even if you hire them for the shoot. YOU MUST stipulate in the contract that YOU will retain ALL rights to the images. DO NOT let anyone photograph you without a contract if you want to retain the rights to your images!!!! Madonna was sorry as hell 20 years ago when she let a photographer do some racy shots when she was 20!
2nd: WATERMARK your images. It's easily done or easy to find someone to do it for you. Personally, when I see a provider with watermarked images it already shows me I'm dealing with someone who's intelligent and concerned about her image. It's one thing to pursue someone who's using your pictures, it's another to show that they actually belong to you! This will also help ALL of us from women borrowing other providers pictures!!!
3rd: Have a good law firm send a cease and desist letter to the offending party.
Good advice. I don't watermark my photos, though. I think it detracts from the image too much. *shrug* Different strokes.
If they're being posted on a third-party ad site (BP, P411, OAD, etc.), usually just a quick note to the abuse team will get them pulled. They don't want to deal with the hassle of processing DMCA claims and lawyer headaches -- it's far easier for them to just remove the stolen material.
While it's certainly the most effective, unfortunately not all ladies can afford to pay a lawyer to send a c&d letter, especially if the thieving is on more than one site/by more than one person. Thankfully I've had a lot of success just sending in DMCA complaints when the site either doesn't pull the photos (or text, that gets stolen too) or if the material is on a lady's personal site.
