I recently bought a card to charge up the minutes on my tracfone.  Without thinking, I paid for it with a credit card.  I haven't applied the minutes yet but, if I do, does that present a risk?

As long as I'm on the subject of privacy and money, does anyone know how to pay for TER without a credit card or check?  I probably would have bought a lifetime membership a long time ago, if it was available.

Now, if you REGISTERED the phone in your real name, well that was stupid, but just purchasing minutes won't prove squat. TER uses CCbill for all transactions, and there is no check or cash option. Wish they would let us mail money orders again, because I tend to cancel my cards every so often.

 
How much did you spend?  Donate it to a charity or other program ... and hope it doesn't go to a drug dealer.  Well, you'll have your charity donation receipt.  Is this one with a scratch off thing? Did you already scratch off the covering? Sell it on eBay ... and hope it doesn't go to a drug dealer.  Well, you'll have your eBay seller's receipt.

Just use it.  Don't let the SO see the receipt and if she asks what you bought at Walmart when she's going over your CC statement be ready to think of something believable.

Yes, buying the minute card with your credit card can connect your identity to your hobby phone.  But take a REALISTIC risk assessment here.  Who really cares enough to find that connection? If you're just hobbying, not drug dealing, pimping, gun running, murdering, terrorizing, etc your risk of discovery through this connection is very low.

You know the type,  the kind you can give as a gift and no telling who bought or uses it.

Those "green dot" or "refillable credit cards" or "gift credit cards" can not be used for international (non-US) transactions and TER is overseas.

I believe there are some that can be used for non-US transactions but they must be registered with a real name, real address and a real SSN.  Might as well use your regular CC.

I need to renew but CANNOT use a credit card.  I used TrustCash last year, and money orders before that.  Can anyone tell me how I can renew without a credit card.  Thanks!
