received my response from TER this morning. It says about the same as the Admin post above.
The issue is whether you access through the classic web address, classic.theeroticreview. com or the "new" TER web address, www.theeroticreview.com. On classic you get charged $25 on "new" you get charged $30.
They asked for the link to the price being stated as $25. I explained that it's how you access TER initially that makes the difference. But I did provide the link.
Isn't doing things on the web often an exercise in chaos theory (at least in the simple terms I can understand) by that I mean no matter what you think you can keep up with you can't account for everything.
So those of you that have been members for 5 years or more get a $5 discount. That's OK by me.
The cost now is $30 a month when you pay month to month.
I'm guessing they will get that fixed soon.
I'm thinking about paying for one month of VIP membership. However, I really only have the intent of being VIP for one month. I really don't want to become a hard-core hobbiest. There's nothing wrong with that and I'm not judging anyone who is a hard core hobbiest. It's just that I don't have the time and money to be one right now, and VIP membership is expensive.
All that being said, I clicked on the link to the screen where you cancel your VIP membership and the it asks you why you want to cancel your membership. To me, this implies that by canceling your VIP membership, you are canceling your erotic review membership altogether. I hope this isn't the case, because after I'm done with VIP, I'd still like to be a basic member of TER. Am I misunderstanding something here. Do I have the wrong impression? If anyone could clear this up for me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your help.
VIP membership one month at a time might be better for you. It's only $20 a month, but if you really want to be safe and do the proper research here, it's pretty necessary. If you sign up for one month, be aware that it will automatically bill you each month unless you cancel. Cancelling will not terminate your basic membership, just your VIP privileges.

Mine says 20 or 25 per month if you buy monthly. Don't know why there are 2 amounts. Also gives 2 rates for quarterly, and yearly membership. Nowhere do I see monthly for 30 bucks.
Swim
20 in Euros, 25 is dollars, same with others, smaller number is Euros, larger is dollars. From reading on my account mgr. it appears the monthly membership is automatically billed each month unless you cancel. The quarterly and yearly memberships are not recurring.

Because you are definitely not a dummy! But I was just going to mention the Euros vs dollars thing. The monthly membership used to be $20 (or actually 19.95 I think,) so it has gone up recently to $25 with no announcement. But I don't think it has ever been $30.
if you pay monthly, it is $25 per month.
If you pay quarterly, it comes out to $20 per month.
If you pay annually, it comes out to $17.50 per month.
If you submit reviews, you get 15 days per review.
if you submit problem reports, you get 2 days per problem report.
My credit card is being charged $30 a month for VIP.
I double checked after reading this thread. (I was sure it was $30.)
Going to My TER (account manager I think, if you use Classic) click on buy VIP, click on Monthly. It clearly states 20 Euros, 30 dollars. If that's not what you guys are being charged I'm mad and you guys are lucky. So what's up?
That's fucked up! When I click on account manager and click on buy VIP, and Monthly, it clearly states 20 euros and 25 dollars! Wow obviously something is messed up. Unfortuantaley I haven't looked at my credit card statement so I have no idea what they are charging me. I guess I better check. When I first signed up it was 19.95 a month, so I didn't even know it went up to 25 until reading this thread and looking at account manager. So I don't know about being lucky. maybe just stupid for not really knowing what i am paying. But it is really weird that we see different things when we look it up! Question for admin I guess. Meantime I guess I better check my cc statement. Thanks for bringing that up. By the way I am using new ter and you are using classic but that should definitely not make a difference in what you pay, or what they say you ahve to pay under account manager!
Thanks again xyz, for bringing it up, and thanks to the op for his question or we wouldn't have found this out.

Is there a reason for this automatic billing on a monthly basis? I would also like the ability to turn on/off my VIP membership on a monthly basis. For me, when I know I am going to be traveling for business, I like to have VIP access so I can do my research - however, when I am not traveling, I do not really need this access. Also, on this note - the quarterly membership is not automatic billing, correct?
I don't know a reason for the automatic billing on the monthly membership, although I'm sure there is one. You have to contact admin to cancel or you will be billed. Just be careful and know your renewal date so you can cancel in a timely manner.

Thanks for the information but its not $20 but $30 now for a month.
You can't eat just one.
When you are part time hobbiest, you really want to ensure that you are getting the best bang for your buck (pun intended), so it is sometimes worth it for research purposes...
Paying for VIP membership will look dirt cheap then.
Yes you can cancel your vip membership and you will still be a regular member, and you can always get vip again. I have done that many times over the years. I would sign up for vip for one month so I could read reviews of visiting ladies I wanted to see, or a new lady who popped up in my area, or perhaps if I was travelling to another area and wanted to check out reviews from that area. Then I would cancel my membership. At some future time I would sign up again for a month or two, then cancel again. Lately I have been a vip for over a year, but in the past it has always been off and on, but I never lost my basic membership. You do have to fill out the cancellation form and then make sure they cancelled (check your cc statement the following month -- ter has been good about it, but many companies that have automatically recurring payment plans make it really difficult to cancel). If you had submitted reviews or problem reports during your vip membership, then when you cancel the paid membership, your free days that were built up will kick in until they run out.
Just checked again. Went on classic. There the price is 20 euros/ 25 dollars. What's up with that?!
Sending a "contact us" as I type.
I was just going to do that after reading your above post and replying to it, then I saw this post. This is definitely wrong!!
my bank slapped a currancy change fee on there...
Doggy Poo!!
Hopefully, TER will get this situation resolved soon. I'm glad I got the cheaper price, but it's pretty unfair that some people would pay $25 while others pay $30.
In 2011, TER had a rate increase. The amount you see on TER is in Euros (€ not $).
For monthly subscriptions, $30 is a standard rate and $25 is a rate for TER members that have been with TER for over 5 years.
TER does not have an option for non-recurring monthly rates. Members who purchase a monthly recurring rate can use the 'Contact Us' at the bottom of the TER page to ask for their recurring billing to be canceled. Members can check for the confirmation of the cancellation by going to 'My FeedBack' on the TER tab.
Members who still have an active subscription purchased prior to 2011, still retain the old subscription rate. If the member decides to cancel the subscription, we do send a message advising of the new rate increase should they decide to purchase a VIP subscription at a later date. We ask for confirmation before proceeding to cancel the subscription.
