This is my first time into this hobby. Of course, i dont have any reference.

Like many people suggested, i checked provider review and selected the one with 8+ review.

On my first try, we corresponded via email. I was asking for an appointment on Monday (it was on Friday). She told me she had something available sooner, so i was like YAY. On the day, I was waiting her email until 1 hour before before she told me that her place is not free for the weekend. She suggested to go back to original plan. I confirmed it. On Monday, I've never heard from her .. so automatically it was off.

Now .. 2nd try. I found one with 9 and 10s. It was pretty easy to set up an appointment. She requested me to call 2 hour before to confirmed. When i called, she sounded not in a good mood and told me if we could postpone our meeting 30 mins and asked me to call again when it's closer. So I called again 40 mins before our scheduled time. I asked her if it's better to schedule some other time, but she asked me if I could postpone for another 10 mins. She gave me direction and asked me to call via cell 5 mins before our time.  

So I went there, called her exactly 5 mins before. She didnt answer the phone. I called 2nd time, few mins later, she answered the phone and told me that her clock showed wrong time. She needed some time and called me back on the cell.

Well .. I wait for 30 mins, no response. I called her back couple times, she didnt answer the phone. When i called her again after 50 mins waiting, she was upset. She told me that she called my cell but it was just keep ringing and she couldn't wait for long time.

I swear my cell was on and it was not ringing. Well .. is it my unlucky days or i need to do something else to improve my chance?

Your second appointment sounds like the provider might have been having a personal problem that could not be resolved that day. Or, if you have no references and are not registered with a verification service such as RoomService2000 the provider might have gotten nervous about you.

I've had a slew of flake-outs and last-second cancels myself just in the last few weeks, but I do think you were unlucky to pick two straight right out of the gate.  It was about 20 appts in before I had my first, and I feel I'm real unlucky in that I've had way too many.  Of course my first 10 were in LV and were some major rip-offs for other reasons.

It seems that the nature of the business attracts some flighty and flaky providers who don't seem to care about keeping appts.  I also think that if u r the only appt some will just not bother to show up unless another comes along - making it more worth their time and effort to get a room etc.  But it shouldn't ever happen!

You are somewhat handicapped by being a newbie.  As some of my favs I've gotten thru other providers telling me they are good.  But even then I still keep having flake-outs.

I've found almost ZERO correlation between their ratings and who will do this.  Some are very highly rated - maybe they are so in demand they can be choosy or flighty and not lose enough business to care about it!

It really blows tho.  Though independents can be better, you may want to try an agency for a first.  Unless they miss their flight, they are much less likely to cancel as they are there for a few days only and want to maximize the appts.  Schedule as early as possible though as u may be sloppy 10ths for the day otherwise.  LOL

What I can't believe is all the vets who claim they've never ever been cancelled on let alone noshowed/noanswered on.  I literally don't think I've gone more than a month in the last 4 w/o a no show and probably get cancelled on 2/month.  I think some of it is I'm not in a prolific area being in OH.  When you can be choosier it may lead to many less incidents.

Been there ... it sux.  Julie from Detroit did that to me twice.  She had great reviews but let me sit twice ( drove an hour each way to Cleve).  Maybe she thought I was LE, but never asked for references.  Kind of put me off indies.  You may want to try MC or EC, I've used them both and had good luck with the companies ( but read the reviews for the girls... 2 at MC did about 1/3 the time paid for 2 were great, EC was really good).  Shoot me an email and I can give you names.
