Angry provider for asking about reviews

I just called a provider from an Eros ad. She had no reviews, having searched by her name and phone #. After saying hi, I asked if she knew if she had any reviews. I probably should have at first introduced myself. Other than that, I did not feel as if I was being rude, or aggressive. That is just not me. I am even a little insecure and uncertain when I talk to providers.

She proceeded to give me a lecture about how I was an extortionist for using TER. How dehumanizing I was. How the term I used "hobbyist" just exemplifies my inhumanity. She continued to claim that only 2 % of people who meet providers use TER, but we cause 90% of the problems.

I was dumbfounded. I imagine that there are some clients that try to extort free/discounted meeting with threats of writing a bad review if not. But I would imagine that is far in the minority. It seems to me most providers are too strong to let that happen.

Am I a naive fool? I like TER. It has introduced me to seeing providers. I have learned a lot from discussion boards. Although the ratings system has problems (too inflated, too many high numbers), the text portion of the reviews has helped me with my choices.

and/or one with prior bad reviews. Such anger doesn't come from a casual observer, but someone with a bad history here. She should be avoided.

oes she post on the General Discussion board lol. Lot of TER haters sure do seem to post a lot.

I agree with Panthera... I am no longer on TER as a provider, but you would not catch me bashing the guys on it, who made me a success before I retired. Sure, not ALL clients are found here and some of the biggest spenders do not post reviews, but that does not dismiss the fact that she has zero credibility without some type of history. Sounds like she is pissed about having to keep proving herself because she is one of those "No Review Policy" providers.

There was a gal who pulled that shit a while back, saying she did not want any more reviews... she had like 90 at  the time. Turns out, she was 30 lbs heavier than her photos at the time of that statement, and wouldn't you know a few months later, she is not back to getting 10s, because she probably got lipo or hit the gym, but um, thought you 'did not want any more reviews?" What she meant was, "I don't want any bad/honest reviews while I am a lard ass."

You did nothing wrong, though phone call providers are a bit different from email only providers.

I'm surprised you even let the conversation go that long. As mrf, said, I would have said something like "thank you, good bye" very early in that convo.

I agree with Panthera in that this lady obviously had a problem with TER. It is true that TER is only a small percentage of the hobby, and there are provides out there who don't know about TER, and some who do know, but don't care to get reviews or be involved with it. However, most of those would politely just say they don't have reviews, or don't want reviews, or don't know about them. For a provider to get hostile with you just for asking, there are other issues.

if there are reviews or other information out there, then we don't have to ask.  I agree for her to be so hostile, probably means she has something to hide.  Did you even mention TER?
There are bad hobbiests...  and a lot of them don't write bad reviews but they threaten to try to get a girl to do something not on her menu.  Honest providers should have nothing to fear from reviews.
Yes, the numbers are arbitrary.  One needs VIP to read the full text of reviews.  Often a "low" number score is not so bad in the text & even explained away.

They don't seem to understand that reviews are how guys protect themselves from being ripped off.

As far as they're concerned, it's their world, and you just live in it.  Move on.

That's one of the things that I love about TER, it takes a lot of the risk out. After a guy gets burned a couple of times he tends to be a little more selective. I tend to shy away from providers with no reviews and if provider only has 1 good review it would not make me shy away.

For me, no reviews somewhere is my clue to move on.  Obviously, know that TER is not the only review site, just the biggest.  This gal has something in her past to poison her against TER, hard telling what it is.  Asking if she has reviews is hardly a prelude to extortion, I am clueless as to why she would think that.  She's got a few screws loose, the way I see it.
