Trying to get involved

Newbie to the hobby, looking to get involved with a provider for the first time and still am having trouble.  I've registered here, I've gotten a Basic Membership at Preferred411, but am still having trouble getting an appointment with a provider--I'm still getting asked for provider references.  How does one go about getting that first appointment set up?

I know this is very similar to a question that was just asked, but the answers there centered around places like Preferred411 and such.  I'd rather not spend money on five different date-check sites to get my foot in the door...anyone out there have another suggestion?  Is there something I can say in the initial e-mail/invite?

You've given us part of the story, so I'm going to give you part of the answer, lol.

Seriously, different ladies use different means to gain comfort that you're OK.  Most will not tell you exactly what those means are, but you need to find one that does something other than use references.  You can join a bunch of sites (I'm a member of none), but they only help if that's how she screens.

Your surest approach is to make a really long list of ladies that strike your fancy, and send them emails with times that you're available (do NOT double-book), mentioning that you have no references, but are willing to divulge info to make her feel comfortable.  Then, much like the typical day as a salesman, you push off all the rejections, and rejoice in the small percentage of positive responses.

From that point, you're in the game.

who are listed as being in your area and who accept basic members. You will find many. Once you get started and see a few ladies you will find it easier to choose from a wider variety.

Thanks, but I guess I wasn't clear enough--part of the problem is I'm still getting requests for references, even from Preferred411 ladies.

Be honest.  Tell that you are a Newbie.  Ask what she requires.

That said do read up the Newbie board, the section at the top, hobby phones, discrete e-mail, 2 call system.  Read up on scams so you know enough to not get taken.
Once you've done the basics, I suggest you spring for VIP.  It really is a help & is far cheaper than the cost of a spoiled oportunity.

Here is what I did. Joined TER VIP and read all the newbie info including the manual front/back.

Found a very well reviewed lady in my area.

I wrote her a very informative email telling a lot of personal stuff (including employment) about me with the promise of giving her more upon her request.

I told her I was a newbie and basically wrote the email as if it was a job interview (selling myself to her).

She emailed me back with one other personal question about myself and when I replied she gave me a call. We talked a little and she agreed to meet me.

When we met she treated me gently and made me glad I decided to try the hobby. I still see her and use her as a great reference.

Hope this helps and good luck!!

without external references. But, she may list that you need to be a "basic plus" member in which case you need provider "okays" on that site.

you are also nominated for the jazzy Rookie of the Year Award!!!

Your game plan is exactly like the one I had a view years ago.  Your asking a gal to jeopardize and liberty, and health.  Newbies, you have to compromise some of your security as well!!!

Looking at your 4 reviews, you have made some choices on the fantastic side, and others on the so-so, but that is all being a newbie to the hobby!!!  You are an example to other newbies, and my hat, the one on my head, no I mean the clothing that I wear on top-most part of my body, is off to you,
