no name-no contract hobby phone?

Want to pick up a "hobby phone" that I can pay cash for, doesn't require a contract or name to activate. Is there such a thing that is hobby safe available at convenience stores, best buy, etc?

OK, it needs a name etc to activate, but it doesn't have to be a real one.

Picked up a trakfone. Purchased with cash out of my area, and activated from a pay phone in that same area. Good to go, for all of 5 mins. They didn't give phone number of phone when it was activated, couldn't find it on phone, and thought "well that's easy, just call your cell and it will show up on call id!" So, before I could stop myself, that's what I did. First phone call on my new "untraceable" hobby phone?  To my personal cell registered to me!

Oh well, there goes $30 pissed away!  Cheap lesson learned I suppose.

They are available just about everywhere.  Pay cash.
You can go online and register from your anonymous 'hobby' email using a fictitious name and address.
You can buy re-up cards anywhere for cash.

And, I have found the coverage to be pretty good.  The sound quality?   Only so-so, but you can't have everything.

I just upgraded my TrakFone to a new model for $15 at Wally World.  The old one was 2 years old, worked perfectly as it was only used for hobbying.  Shut off & safely stored when not in use.

I used a fake name & default address...  some place in Florida. (Wonder if that's corp offices).  Buy refills with cash anywhere.

I do not store numbers on it, clear calls after use.  If I had to, it could fall under a tire & I'd be out $15.

I didn't know to keep my personal cell clean until I joined TER.

When I began the hobby I promised I'd not do anything stupid.  When I joined TER, I realized I'd NOT been as careful as I should.  I am now.

Also you MUST have a secure hobby e-mail separate from your regular account.  Do NOT access hobby e-mail when anyone else is in house.  Clear history & shut off totally when ending a session.

Do NOT use company equipment or ISP to access adult sites.  Companies have the right to monitor their equipment.  Guys have lost 6 figure jobs over this!
A 3G card owned by you & private laptop is private.  Or just don't do it.

Recharge cards can be bought for cash at Best Buy, and many drugstores and supermarkets also.

You activate on their website.

and registered on their site with a fake name.  Every 3 months I buy a $20 top-up card to keep it activated.

I think I purchased this from wallmart for 15 bucks and it included 300 minutes for 60 days.

I got a Verizon at Wally World for 20 bucks and registered it under a fake name and address online.
