Hi, I am new to the area of meeting people, and reached out to a provider in SFO area.

Some specific web-presence info, and especially work identification is being requested for this screening.
I do realize I can move on ... but just wondering what has been the experience of people when revealing
this kind of information. I don't mind personal details being shared, but having to list place where I work
seems to be a bit out of the ordinary.

Any thoughts on how to handle this? I am seriously interested in meeting this person, but the bar seems too high

You answered your own question “the bar is too high”.  Move on.  
Nobody in this world, that you have yet to meet in person, is worth the risk.

They HAVE to do what they have to do to feel safe. I don't ever argue with a girl re: this and I always defend any girl's right to have any verification process she so chooses. I don't have to like it, but I will defend them, as I have done here since day one.

 
But personally, I think it's insane to give out RW info to a total stranger, in an illegal business, where we have lost our privacy already and accounts can easily be hacked.

 
Sure, "most" of these women are trustworthy but "most" is not "all" and all it takes is ONE girl and your life can be destroyed. Many women say they destroy your info right after they verify you. Maybe they do, maybe they dont but will you ever know the truth?

 
Now, some guys are either already "out" and/or blackmail/scandal proof, so if you fall into that category, good for you.

 
But if you have anything to lose, I would strongly want to talk you out of it. There are dozens and dozens of horror stories on this site over the years. Some really good people have been crushed.

 
There have been quite a few girls on twitter, VERY recently, openly bragging that they have doxxed a guy just for cancelling or NCNS! Can you imagine?

I agree, outing someone on twitter with real world info for a nc/ns is BS! I don't even fully agree with it for dangerous guys as there is a place for that where most have access or it can be DM'd, emailed, etc. If you out their info it can make them more pissed off and dangerous, what about the next chick who isn't on twitter or those other sites and doesn't screen....

I will accept employment information for those that do not have references, it is not fool proof on my end and it is not "forced". If you don't want to provide it, I understand and you can simply move on. I have a web presence and reviews to state that I am legitimate and not BSC.

Some of those providers on twitter are very clearly BSC. Some are untrustworthy, scammers, etc. and you need to do your own research. TER is a good starting point as are the back channels that the gents use.  

There is always a risk, try to minimize it by choosing wisely or only doing what you are comfortable doing. Some women even offer meeting in person at a public place in lieu of screening for a cup of coffee or similar prior to a "real" visit, maybe the $$ is worth maintaining your privacy.  

There are plenty of options, don't rush it.
