Tipping situation

I have seen a visiting provider once before and liked her very much.  I'll see her again next week and would like to give her a cash tip up front, partly as a Xmas present as well.  I'm trying to be sensitive to the "no discussion or display of money" rule.  Can anyone think of a good way to do this?

Would it be better to get her a gift certificate from a store? If so, how best to present that?

Thanks in advance for your creativity.

Give it to her in a card, or put it in a small gift.

I have usually found that while cash gifts are never rejected, most Ladies like it even better when you have picked out something specific to her.  Show her that you paid attention to her comments/likes, etc., and gone out of your way to make it something personalized.

Listening to your trasured provider is paramount. I know my providers B-Day, favorite colors, eating habits and stuff that I will never discuss except with her. Listening shows you are not selfish.

Good advice for any gift you give to a good friend or your wife or girlfriend.  It's obvious if a gift is thoughtless.  When a gift is thoughtful it's a good feeling for the receiver to know that you pay attention to their likes, dislikes or hobbies.  Believe me it's the little things that count.  Just listen and be aware...or you could just ask.
