I am someone who gives everyone the benefit of the doubt. I work very hard to provide great experiences and to be punctual. I'm also very diplomatic and prefer to come to mutually beneficial arrangements when ever possible, so here's the issue.
I have a client, whom I'd seen once before and seemed to enjoy himself very much, who booked a 90 minute massage last Saturday, he left an e-mail about five hours before the appointment stating he wouldn't be able to make it due to an emergency in the family. Okay, for sure, no problem on my part AT ALL. Wished him and his family member well and went on my merry way. Yesterday, I found out my studio would be available to me all day today, I offered a few people who had been wanting to get in time today (I only work incall on Mondays and Saturdays most of the time). He happily booked another 90 minute and I gave him first pick on time. Well, he's officially 41 minutes late now, and did not contact me at all. Needless to say I'm a little irritated. However, like I said, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and I *never* get pissy with my clients. I think it's very classless to do so. But, suggestions? Give him one more opportunity, or cut my losses? (incidentally I had to turn two other people down who wanted the time slot)NCNS=DNS If he didn't care enough to contact you why would you give him the opportunity to waste your time yet again?
so you could have booked another client if one called.
Now he booked again and has no showed without notice. It's not late enough yet to say NCNS (No Call, No Show). I'd give him 24 hours. However, he knows he stood you up. The first thing he needs to do is apologize.
He has lost his priority status. If you choose to see him at all, it is as a fill in at your convenience. You are within your rights to run your business as you see fit... and if you don't feel like risking another time slot for him I wouldn't blame you. I'd wait & see what vibe you get. You should not turn away reliable clients for NO shows.
A lady who stood me up & wasted my opportunity... I would not see her now, even it if was FREE. Because the wasted opportunity is something I could not replace.
Agree with the above, would add that if you're considering giving him a third shot I'd expect some sort of compensation for the second time. Canceling with notice is just the way things go sometimes, but canceling with no notice is disrespectful.
I come here! Thank you, as I said I really prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt. I will see what the next day brings, and go from there.
he could have been in an auto accident or some other unforeseen situation. See if he contacts you within 24 hours; otherwise drop him like a brick.
No responsiveness on his part means he does not value your time.
I typically wait 30 minutes for no shows (after I've contacted them ten minutes after the time they were meant to be at the appointment) I'm sure I should have sat, cooling my heals for the entire 90 minutes ![]()
It sucks when it happens either way, and in most cases it is b.s.
I mean how many times does someone have an emergency so horrific they cant even manage to take 10-15 seconds for a text/email to notify the other person?
Gals can make a fortune on an hourly basis and cancellations and NCNS is just a part of the down side.
I've been in your shoes more times than what I would've wanted, so I get the frustration
sorry to hear it!
Especially considering you lost potentially 2 sources of income.
Or, allow him to book again and cancel on his ass. Hey good enough for him, good enough for you.
I am fairly new here but do you really suggest this. I can not see any win for her and a possible loss. An angry review by an alias can be more damaging than just cut off all contact. Stillnewbut I would suggest getting on the PO board and letothers know and block his number.
Thanks everyone. I'm not a vindictive person (unless someone *really* fucks with me) so, while I haven't heard from him, if he wanted to book again, yes, I'd require a deposit of 50%.
