Think I blew the hobby phone

I got a hobby phone, but when I was setting it up I put in a zip code about a thousand miles away.  I got an area code for my phone a long way from me.  Did I screw up?  Will providers not take my call or not take me seriously because my area code is not a somewhat local one?  Any input from providers and hobbyists would be welcomed.

That's an interesting one.  I'm betting, although (as Freud so rightly observed) you can never know for sure what a given lady will want, that most providers will be ok with it as long as you do not block the number.  My phone just tells them "CT Cell Phone" and the number, and it's been ok so far, even when I'm out of state.  YMMV.

I used a default address...  probably trac's offices...
but use a local area code, that covers my whole state.
You ought to be able to change it somehow...

No big deal.  If anyone says anything, tell them you just moved from wherever.

I work with at least three individuals who moved to my location from different areas of the country and all kept their old cell phone numbers.

I answer no matter what the area code. I see guys that are local, and guys from out of town.
