then you cna do like Naomi said. What I usually do is click on edit, then physically delete everything in the body and the subject line, then type in "delete" in the subject line, then hit post. When you edit a post, even if you are unmoderated, it won't post right away. It has to go through admin, so when they see that they will delete it, and if they don't delete it, it will post just saying "delete," wiht no other information.
You only have about 24 hours or so, to edit your post, so if you have a post that is past the editing stage and you want to delete it, use the "report this post" button, and for reason say "please delete my post" Since it is your own post, they will normally delete it. If you are reporting someone elses post they will need a reason, then they will look into it and decide whether to pull it or not.
When you could click the "edit" button, do your edit, and the process completed in real-time without need for a 'moderator'. You could even do it when posting under an alias. Typos, grammar/punctuation oversights, malapropisms, or simply using the wrong moniker intended could be fixed by the author, and immediately!
I know it sucks now when you post something, and you go to correct for a simple typo, and then it takes hours to repost! But I heard the reason they did that is because moderated people were using it to post things unmoderated. Their first post would be moderated, but once it posted, they could edit it, and it would get reposted instantly.
You'd think they could have come up with a better fix for problematic recidivists. Instead they give us more "newbie friendly" forums that can prove a nightmare should one suddenly sneeze with their hands anywhere near the "enter" key.
