I am quite new to this and I was curiuous. Why would someone visit an agency vs. and independent ? It just seems to make more sense to go the indy route. You don't have to pay twice and it would seem to be much more personal and private.
there was a recent thread on that in the National board. It's a question of personal preference. I find agencies convenient and have had some good experience with them (some bad also!). Once you've seen a lady several times you forget whether she is with an agency or is an indie. It's no more or less personal or private, the only difference is that I do not do incall with agencies.
As far as I'm concerned the experience you have is with the lady herself, and it does not matter who she works for.
That being said there are bad agencies that are run terribly. The key is to find a good one.
and unless a lady comes to this business with coin, they often start working for an agency of some sort. Blatantly dissing agencies is, in my opinion, short sighted.
There are many ladies who got their start with agencies AND there is at least one agency in LA that many of us hold in pretty high regard. The girls working there dont want the hassles of screening, booking, all the BUllshit so they pay the agency a fee.
Ask any "indi", they don't get to "keep" 100% like they may have thought they would.
It's the few agencies that are a total rip off that ruin it for the good agencies. For me, it is still 50/50.

The first agencies I ever used in this hobby were in Las Vegas. LV agencies have a uniformly poor reputation for Bait and Switch, Rip Offs, etc., and my experiences with 3 agencies proved them out. I then opted to see only independent providers, feeling I was getting more bang for the buck (pun definitely intended!). This was 5 or 6 years ago. And some things have changed.
For one, I have found that there are LEGITIMATE agencies out there that provide the company of many very excellent providers. How did I find them? TER! I now look at the reviews for consistency of service and reliability of reviewer, and under appropriate circumstance will book through an agency if I wish to visit with one of their providers. The thing is this: you need to do your homework.
I have found an agency in the NY area, where I am from, and another in South Florida who I would trust to provide services to me as easily as I would a new indie provider. I still believe that there are a number of bad agencies out there, and that they do spoil some business for the better agencies that I now know exist.
BTW, I still trust no agencies in Las Vegas!
You aren't whistling dixie about agencies in Las Vegas. I am vey new to this and my idea for this post was because of an experience with an agency in Vegas for a bachelor party.
I got them from a cab driver and of course this was before I knew about this site. I also never planned a bachelor party in Vegas before. We would have been better off staying at the strip club all night.
Anyway, these women wanted $ 500 for the three of them for just walking in the door. Everything else was " extra ".
It just seems to make more sense to me to see an indy since you only pay once where with an agency, you pay twice. As far as the quality of the women, it seems like a crap shoot either way the first time you see them.
I did see an indy once in Vegas and despite a decent review, she was awfull. At least it cost me less than I would have paid with an agency fee.

As mentioned right off the bat we are usually less expensive.
I think if you are looking for a GFE, we are the way to go, because I have the ability to not be a clockwatcher. If we are having fun - I never look at a clock, and when we are both happy and have rested a bit, I will leave but never ever do I ask for more money than originally agreed. Its because I had fun and wanted to be there longer, and usually I will get a tip for being so obliging... but anyway independents dont have to make that call when they arrive and dont have to jump up when the phone rings in 59 minutes, know what I mean? That just feels not right to me. Also, if your a gentlemen who likes to stick with one lady in a certain area, so you know what your getting, you will be able to get her personal contact info. I enjoy emailing and chatting with my clients even when there not in town, so this is why we are best!!

I'm not sure what area of the country you're in, but that's not the case in the Boston area. The agencies in this area underprice independents (except their former employees) and require little or no verification. I realize "little or no verification" IS NOT A POINT IN THEIR FAVOR! It's just the way it is here.

I am enjoying these responses. Like I said in my initial post, I am quite new at this. FYI, I live in the New York area but also visit Vegas frequently. It just seems to make logical sense that if you pay twice like you do with an agency, that they would be significantly more expensive. After all, the girls would expect a nice "tip" close to or equal to what an indy girl would get. I don't see how an agency in NY could possibly undercut an indy. Afterall, they need to make a few bucks also.
AS Chrissy also chimed in, and I did appreciate her viewpoint, it also would seem more fun without having the girl check in upon arrival, watch the clock and having a phone ring after an hour. Not that some indy's also wouldn't be clock watchers.
