There are people joining TER all the time. Apparently I have to spell this out, and this means that there will always be new people asking the same questions over and over.
See the posts about average age of hobbyists, STDs as well as the thread below about "Questionable Provider". If you're cruising the newbie board you're going to get newbie questions. If you don't want to see them, or answer their questions, don't come here, don't read them or don't respond.
It's all very simple. We were all noobs once, I'm still fairly new at under one year, so either be helpful here, or shut yer yaps.
And lest we forget... it only takes one boob (not noob) to screw something up for all of us, so it is in our best interests to help folks along. I'm not saying to treat them with kid gloves, especially if they didn't read the helpful online FAQs, etc. But rather than rant, direct them to read the info already here.
a good and safe time. If someone wants to have that old feeling of having your history teacher scold you for not reading your history book before taking the test, most of us probably can stay home, or go to work to re-experience that. Way to tellum hound_dog69!
I've only been hobbying for a few years. I made a bunch of NewBee mistakes... I've not forgotten the lessons!
When I found TER & began to learn, I promised myself I'd not do anything STUPID. The thing is I am still learning. The more I learn, the more I reaize I was so lucky at first. LUCK... pure dumb luck... is not to be relied on.
HD69 is so right. A NewBee who gets caught... makes all of us look bad... and rachets up the female survailance.
Well said, SKB. I have been at this for less than a year. It has been more luck than anything else, but doing my homework on TER has been a big player in that.
Yes, I still make mistakes, this is a heavily nuanced undertaking; the experienced hobbyists (we all know their names) have been very very helpful.
May I say the providers I have seen have been great. Ask the right questions and they are the best source of information.
This FAQ for Newbies is really a fantastic componenet of the whole hooby. Nobody needs to be spanked here, unless they didn't read the intro to "newbie world."
is to invest the time to read the newbee manual & read back on this board until they can answer every question themselves. There are good reasons why certain things are done & not done. That education is priceless. It does take time but it is time well spent... and it's totally free! Yup, perhaps it is tongue in cheek that this board is named "FAQ for Newbies". That's what it is here for. skb
I am still learning. However, I do try to offer help to questions that I have some knowledge about. For newbs, I think the search function can really be a big help, after, of course, reading the newbie manual.
I read this forum to see if anyone asked a question that might be relevant to my interests. If I can help, I will. If I can learn something, good for me.
Like has been said, if you don't want to read the same questions again and again, don't read this forum.
