by excercising your right to STFU, you are ensuring you don't turn a simple misdemeanor into a felony.
My suggestion is that rather than remaining completely mute, is to simply invoke your right to counsel. Something on the order of "I don't feel comfortable having this discussion without speaking to my lawyer, if I am not free to leave, I would like to call my attorney please." Don't be disrespectful, argumentive or call him a "jackbooted nazi pig" lol None of those thing will do a thing to help your cause.
One benefit to asking for your attorney is that if they are just fishing and don't really have enough to charge you, they are likely to cut you loose once they know they cannot intimidate you into confessing.
So what do you do if you are led into a room and there's a bunch of LE there. Can they really get you on anything or what? If you keep your mouth shut or say that you thought this was a friends room?
STFU
Never make up a lame story like how you thought it was a friend's room. State you wish to remain silent and that you will not answer any questions with out your lawyer present, and ask if you can go. If not ask if you are under arrest. Repeat if necessary until they release you or arrest you.
Do not talk to the police and answer no other questions than your name, address, phone number and to show your ID. Any other question should be answered by the statement that you wish to remain silent and you will not answer any questions without your lawyer present. Don't lie, it can make things worse for you, just STFU. Do not consent to have anything searched or show them your phone and do not talk to them, ever. (not talking about reporting a crime)
Amen. STFU. "Anything you say be misquoted and used against you". Except when you exercise a constitutional right. Silence cannot be used ahgainst you. Asking for a lawyer cannot be used against you. Refusing a search of your person and property cannot be used against you. Cops may still search over your objection, but give your lawyer something argue. Do not help LE. They only want to make the case against you stronger. Name, address, basic information only. Do not explain anything. Just STFU.
Also, many states do not require you to produce ID unless driving, flying, etc.
Search the internet for what not to do if you're arrested
that they would actually arrest you? I've gone to a few well reviewed providers so I'm not too worried about LE, but just to make sure. And thanks for the advice!
The adds are pretty good they will arrest you. It is unlikely that if you stick to well reviewed ladies that you would end up in the same room.
Anyone with an ounce of common sense and avoids unreviewed providers will never be in this situation. If you are, then I say you deserve to be arrested for stupidity and giving us other hobbyists a bad name!
It's LEs job to find and arrest us. The more careful we get the smarter they will get. Be grateful that there are stupid hobbyists. Given the choice I'm sure LE goes for the low hanging fruit.
If you want to be argumentative ro insulting, feel free to visit the GD, P&R, or sports board.
The newbie board is supposed to be a place where newbies can ask questions that might seem foolish to those who have been hobbying for many years without fear of being ridiculed. Please keep that in mind when answering questions from our newer members.
BTW I have been in this situation myself, and I find your blanket statement offensive and spoken like someone who has very little experience himself, and remember I can see behind the alias.
Providers and hobbyists do get caught, and do get flipped by LE from time to time. Odds are that over time, it's gonna happen.
As for my advice about not showing a driver license, that applies until the point that they decide to take you in (and only for those states which have certain legal stipulations). Providing ID, as with all these things, has to be weighed against the value of other options.
Just remember, LE can lie all day long. The cops on the scene cannot make any substantive deals.
If you do as suggested by GaG, then you at least don't hang yourself.
You've stumbled onto my favorite pet peeve...reading the responses it sounds like most have been watching MAY too may cop shows on TV.
The reality is 99% of the people on TER not only have never been through any interaction with LE but don't know anyone that has. Sure it happens but it is extremely remote.
If you walk into a room and LE is there, you are caught, plain and simple...they do not negotiate or decide how to proceed, that is what a judge is for. In most states solicitation is a misdemeanor...and in many of them its a fairly low grade one at that. You will, in those cases, be photographed, fingerprinted, given an appearance ticket, and sent on your way. Saying you don't have to provide a DL is technically correct but you are given a choice, prove your identity some other way or be arrested until your correct ID can be determined/verified...so provide your license it does no harm and lots of good.
Underlying issues that effect this...if you have warrants, are on probation, or attempt to pick-up a provider in your car...some states will impound your vehicle and obviously having warrants or being on probation will end you up in the big house.
One last word of caution...be VERY cautious of any providers who mentions they are either from out of state and are coming to see you or any provider who hints that they are very young. A case could be made that if you arrange a meeting with someone who tells you they are coming from out of state that you can be hit with a human trafficking rap. That is a big deal now and has cause problems for agencies that advertise traveling providers. Also, the underage thing is problematic because of the recent emphasis on child porn and exploitation.
and have walked out of the room still a free man. Of course, I wasn't caught with "my pants down" and without any admission on my part of having committed any crime, LE decided that arresting someone without any evidence who clearly would retain competent counsel and fight the charges vigorously wasn't a productive use of their time.
Circumstances do vary, but your chances of talking yourself "into" jail are a lot higher than those of talking your way out.
The important things to remember if you ever find yourself in the same room with LE are to be polite, respectful and cognizant of your rights under the law, which definitely includes your right to STFU.
One thing that the majority of the well meaning posters here forget, or are not aware of. LE does have discretion on who they will or will not arrest. In many cases the only evidence they have is the supspect (that's you) incriminating statements. If you have not been caught "redhanded" IOW if you simply show up and LE is there before you do anything incriminating like exchanging or talking about money, there is every chance that LE will let you go, IF you don't say anything they can use against you.
HD's advice to ask if you are free to go is actually not bad advice at all. One thing almost as important as remembering your right to STFU is to remember to never lie to LE, lying by omission is one thing, but never overtly lie to LE, or you could be facing obstruction charges that are more serious than the simple low level misdemeanor of solicitation.
Ga Ga,,i get the STFU part.
If asked a question,it is my right to not say a thing, right?
In turn,,i wouldn't have the opportunity to lie, correct?

Ok Thanks!
You say you had it happen to you?
Care to share the story,if not,i understand.
I hope I'm never in the situation but I hope I remember to make one truthful statement: "Oh shit. I think I am in the wroooonnnnng room."
Can you share the details of you became that 1% so we don't repeat the same mistake? Were there red flags you ignored?
I've personally been arrested.
I was just with a girl who reported having been arrested a couple days previous.
Yes, the odds are low-ish, just like speeding. But speed often enough and your risks go higher, and act like there are no risks...well...
And making finger printed, photographed, DNA swabbed, gaining a permanent record, and being held in a filthy cage and handcuffed and held for most of a day and night for processing (my experiance) sound like "and sent on your way" like a traffic ticket is misleading. It sucks. A misdemeanor arrest is a real arrest, even if you don't do hard time.
Admit nothing, deny everything and immediately start counter-accusations.
In other words, keep your mouth SHUT and if they arrest you, call an attorney and they will tell you what to say that will get you off the hook.
Just wondering while reading these posts if it was more likely to get caught walking into an incall hotel/apartment/etc versus having a well-reviewed girl come to your hotel for an outcall? In most of hte posts, it was stated "if you walked into a situations" i.e an incall location.
Incall is riskier. When LE runs a sting, they like to control the environment. LE will usually place a bogus online ad, featuring a provider doing an incall. Once you show up at their hotel room, you're busted.
Outcall reduces your risk--most police depts would avoid sending a female officer all alone to someone's hotel room. They're no longer in complete control of what might happen. Of course, someone will post an example of LE doing exactly that, but we're talking about risk and percentages here.
My advice: join a screening service, use only the providers listed by your screening service, and check the provider's reviews. When meeting a provider for the first time, you book the room. Doing all of these things will lower your risk, but nothing will eliminate your risk. I hope that helps, --z
For the Hobbiest: Incall is max hazard
For the Girl: Outcall is max hazard
Why- same reason for both, the cops get an easy set up, with plenty of security, hidden cams, efficient use of manhours with no travel involved just to get a flake out etc. According to Google the cops have occasionally gone out to girl's incalls, but infrequently. I've been arrested at an incall, and there were numerous girls there arrested responding to an outcall. I was with a girl recently who reported getting arrested with about 40 other girls at an outcall sting. Very much doubting they'd send a lady cop decoy into uncharted waters and their potential dangers, and her whole backup grab squad, for a single dude at an outcall.
