Hi Everyone. I'm a newbie in need of advice. Please give your advice here and do not PM me, as I do not have VIP right now.
I have an appointment scheduled with a somewhat well-reviewed provider. She has screened me and we are set to go. However, she said she would like my p411 info, so she could restart her account there. I have been told that for safety reasons, sharing p411 info over the phone or through email outside of p411 is NOT recommended. Anyway, I told her through email that if she wants to contact me through p411, I'd be happy to share my p411 info there. I haven't heard back from her, but I hope she understands and isn't pissed off at me (I know. I'm being a mangina. LOL!).
Anyway, does anyone have any advice about how I should handle this? Perhaps I should have handled this differently? I just feel that for the sake of the safety of both of us, it's best to follow the safety guidelines of p411. Unfortunately, there have been some stories of p411 usernames being stolen and used to hurt both hobbyists and providers, and I don't want anything like that to happen.
Unfortunately, I have myself to blame for this because I made the mistake of saying I'd be happy to share my p411 info with her when I first contacted her. I said this BEFORE I realized that she is not on p411 and that it is not good to share p411 info outside of p411.
I'd really appreciate some feedback and advice from my fellow hobbyists and providers. Providers, am I being a jerky client?
If a provider is asking for your P411 username, then what's the big deal? I used to provide that all the time, and a provider would punch that in, and see my profile.
I don't understand the restarting of the P411 account on her side, but I don't know how P411 works for providers--only for clients.
What info about "sharing" P411 info are you referring to? You are not giving her anything other than your username, so she can look up your info. That's all, right? Help me if I am missing something.
If her P411 account is inactive, how can she contact you via P411? Doesn't seem to be possible, right?
I agree that asking for my p411 username is no big deal, IF the provider is currently on p411. However, this provider is currently NOT on p411. I have been specifically told by reputable sources that sharing a p411 username over the phone or through a separate email outside of p411 is not recommended for the sake of the safety of both providers and hobbyists. P411 usernames can be stolen and used by others for nefarious purposes that can be hurtful to both hobbyists AND providers.
Anyway, I hope she understands my reluctance to share my p411 username outside of p411, but safety and piece of mind are pretty important to me.
Any further advice or feedback would be much appreciated.
Where did you get this info?
Intuitively, this makes no sense at all to me. If someone asks for your TER username, do you exhibit the same degree of reluctance? As long as she doesn't have your password, how is this not secure?
But ask her why she needs your P411 info. Maybe she is just having another provider who does have P411 access check you out. That wouldn't be the first time that providers have shared a access to a database instead of buying their own membership.
I guess I am wondering how reliable your info is. I used to be a P411 member, and I never heard such a thing.
I got the info from the P411 website itself. They are very reputable, at least in my opinion, and I trust them.

Here's why. If you give your P411 info to someone. Let's say it's Crazyshit-12-a-8765 and that someone gives it to their friend Bob who is a cop or killer. Then Bob contacts a provider via email (cause Bob can't use your P411 account) and gives his P411 as Crazyshit-12-a-8765. The provider sees you have a dozen or more OKs and sets up to see this guy thinking he's Crazyshit and ends up with murder Bob.
This is why we ask for request be sent from your P411 account and how it can be misused.

You have given a much better explanation than I ever could.

Well, with a name like murder bob I'd be skeptical anyway.
Jessica;
You're absolutely correct. In fact, should P411 find out someone is giving this info to a non-member you can bet they will kick that person off. Thanks for the clear explanation of why this is their policy!!
She does not need your P411 info to restart her account there, I don't think. All she needs to do is contact the site and renew her membership, IMHO. Providers can recommend us for membership there, but I'n not sure about the reverse. I'm not really sure about the P411 rules for providers, so I may be blowing smoke here. If you feel uncomfortable about giving her more info about yourself on that site, don't. Move on, there are plenty of others out there.
If you have passed her screening and you have thoroughly researched her, I don't know why your P411 info would be of any help to her. It seems to me that she has enough about you.

Swim, concerning providers getting membership on p411, one way they can get membership is if a p411 client vouches for them. This is according to their FAQ page. So, when I meet this provider and she is legit (I have no reason to think she's not), I would be more than happy to vouch for her, and help her get on p411, if she needs someone to vouch for her.
It's just that at this time, for safety's sake and piece of mind, I don't feel comfortable sharing my p411 username with someone who is not on p411 and who I have not met yet.
I hope this makes sense.
....Unfortunately, there have been a few incidents, at P411, where ladies and gentlemen are allowing others in. Gina has put the entire community on notice, that this will not be tolerated, and the rule breakers will be fined, and/or banned.
If the lady is not a member she cannot access your profile. She can, however, put your username through Google, or one of the black list sites, to see if you are on one. Now, if she is asking another lady to look up your information, that is wrong.
Many gentlemen make original contact with me through P411, and others go directly to my appointment form, and list their handle/id there. It does not make a difference to me
IMO, I do not think you have anything to worry about.
Hugs and Kisses,
Kelly
Your P411 username by itself has no power. Try this... log on to your account and then click "Provider View". There should be no information there that can harm you. If there is, you need to edit your profile. What you see is what the provider sees.
Now, if the provider is asking you for your password, that's a different problem. NEVER, NEVER give your password to anyone!!!!
We can't search for gentlemen. We can only contact them through P411 if we have their P411 account number: Name-##-A-####
AFTER you have seen her, you can recommend her to P411. But only after you know she is legit.
She may have another provider recommend her as well.
She may want your P411 info to have a fellow provider check you out. But, P411 frowns on this unless you are working for an agency and they are aware of this.
Men get on P411 with screening. The only way a provider can get on is through referrals and reviews. It's hard to get established. I got on because one of my repeat clients was a member and he wrote me a nice recommendation.
Good Luck and Be Safe,
Jessica Knightly
As long as a lady has reviews they can be accepted without someone vouching for them. I know this is what I did when I sent up my account. You can still have a provider or hobbyist vouch for you, but either way it free!
You say the lady is a reputable provider so I assume she has reviews. Whether its hear or some other place, she can apply all on her own. Maybe you can let her know this bit of info. P411 also has business hours. I sent them my info early one morning and because they were working at the time they had me approved in just a hour. If she applies over the weekend it will take till Monday till they approve her.
members.
all correspondence concerning appointment request should be through the site. and I dont mean hotel room number.
that means when you send request and she replies you see the P411 logo and original request.
