It's not done automatically when you get a review, you have to request it.  You may have to ask for the limited VIP also, but you can do it in one PM to admin.  Limited VIP will only allow you to read the juicy details of your reviews, not those of others, but it will also let you use the PM system.

I suggest you read the self help center, link under the life preserver at top of this page, it has a lot of valuable info for providers as well as hobbyists.
