Just had a concern,
I was booking one of my regular clients at my incall location in Rockville and he informed and warned me that there would be a sting going on at that location...what I wanted to know is...how do stings actually work? Do te ones being targeted already have their  clients" scheduled to come and thats how rhey get busted or does LE just sit and do surveillance?

Blaque is fairly new here, and I didn't see any harm in allowing the post on the newbie board.  Perhaps it might have gotten some more informative answers on the legal board, but I think Keystone did a pretty good job on answering her question

Directing the poster to the legal board could have been done differently. For my perspective, if she has advanced information that a sting will likley happen at her incall, she is better off conducting business elsewhere. Looks like she got a warning from a person that has insider insight, either through relatives that are in the know or through friends or business colleagues. The provider would be resoundingly foolish to go ahead and conduct the incall at the location of the sting.

three major strategies used by the donut lovers.  #1--they get a female officer to go undercover, put an ad on BP (used to be CL) or some other escort ad venue and wait for the clients to show up at "her incall".  Mics and cameras are rolling and then the rest of the crew comes into the room and you are toast.

#2--LE catches a provider doing her thing and offers a plea-bargain for her to "turn for them" and then collect the clients one by one using the technique listed in #1 above as they enter her incall.  This method uses the providers "track record" to bring in the clients.

#3--sometimes hotel desk staff will tip LE about a frequent lady visitor to their hotel and her frequent visitors.  Least likely method since hotels need to sell rooms to make more profit.  But, if a lady becomes an unwelcome guest, refuses to leave, etc., hotel mgr. may resort to this.

Stings are more prevalent during election years and when the citizens complain about guys with smiles on their faces.

and that is you will be enticed to go out on an outcall.

If you normally screen (And I hope you do.), the caller will say he's in town for just a few more hours and he'll pay you double your rate if you come to him.

This will be LE.

I would avoid any outcall with anyone you don't know until the heat is off.

LE generally likes to control the scene.  If provider(s) are the target, LE will request outcall to a hotel/motel room.  The provider gets inside the room & the "client" will ask a leading question which includes sex for money.  That is the defination of prostitution & provider is busted.  Goes down hill from there.
It might just be your regular rate...  but a premium or a promise of a big tip...  anything to make you skip screening is suspicious.

LE also targets incall in the state of Maryland. They make an arrest by getting the customers to snitch on the provider, just takes 1 guy. They get a search warrant and make a arrest. This a common tactic they use near BWI airport.

Get as far from the sting as possible given your circumstances. Listen, if you get lazy, careless, or ignore warnings, you will end up in handcuffs soon. With a prosttution charge lodged against you, with all the heartache that charge will bring you. Wise up lady. Change your incall. The person that warned you seems to be in a position where the information filtered past.

Well I already avoid doing outcalls for safety reasons anyway.. and Im not tempted by the money so I dont think I can be persuaded to put myself at risk..I'll just continue to screen like I usally do and keep my eyes opened and ears to the ground:o)

A porn star got busted for prosittution near Chicago a few years back because she was hosting in an area that a sting was being conducted in. Lady, give vice cops a break, they are not stupid. If they are running a sting in or near the incall that you are at, they will find you. Vice cops will be looking at traffic patterns in the area and will pay attention to men that are coming and going to a particular hotel. The only reason why they won't arrest you if you are hosting in the area is because they don't want to arrest you. In stings, vice cops tray for as many arrests as possible, don't count on you not being one of those arrests. My last warning to you, change your incall location to as far away from the sting as practical, I don't mean a few freaking blocks, I mean as many miles as you can put between you and the sting location.

Keystone - #2 seems particularly daunting. You can avoid most of the other LE tactics simply by doing your homework on TER. Any tips for spotting / avoiding this one?

There still is not certainty that the provider would not get busted the night before you are to visit her and spend the day you are to see her setting up her client list for arrest. Another route is to use an agency. Typically if an agency provider get tagged, cops are looking for bigger fish than johns of the provider that was foolish enough to get arrested while providing.

"They" have played just about every game under the sun -
Fake "providers" with incalls  to bust the clients (even used a high end condo unit here),
Fake clients asking for outcall (not always short notice as you imply!)
Legit clients busted and working as informants to bust providers,
Legit clients stopped outside an incall and (in fear) they turn info against the lady inside,
etc.
I've never actually heard of a fake "provider" doing an outcall for a sting.  (Very dangerous situation for LE to put themselves into.)

And as for hotels - one very large chain has incentive money they offer staff to tip off suspicious activity, including providers.  With bad press such as the CL killer episode... not all hotels consider green money equally green.

Yes, election years up the stings.  So do major events like the super bowl.  Even prime time coverage or news on the industry can trigger one.  Neighbor complaints against hi-traffic incalls will as well.  Cities with dedicated vice departments may be running them every day of the year.

Bottom line - know the tactics used locally, keep your ear to the grapevine, and screen!

You might want talk with your provider friends. Stings are hit and miss. I do know recently they have busted some providers and asked others to leave hotel rooms because the hotel told LE what was going on.

I HAD A LAWYER CLIENT TELL ME HE KNEW A PROVIDER FROM OUTTA TOWN, WHOM WAS HAVN LOTTA TRAFFIC, AND THAT WAS IN SAME HOTEL FOR A WEEK, AND RUNNIN TRAFFIC IN SAME ROOM FOR WEEK. THAT THEY SET UP STING FEW DOORS DOWN. THEN BEGAN QUESTIONING CLIENTS COMN OUT OF HER ROOM ON THIER WAY OUT. N SCARIN THEM BY SAYN IF U DONT SAY WHAT WENT ON BLAH BLAH WE WANTG YOUR NAEM ECT ECT, AND THEY D THREATEN TO PUBLISH THE GUYS NAME IN PAPER AFTER GIRL GETS BUSTED. SO SOME DUMB GUYS OBVI TALKED. RESULTING IN THEM HAVING THE PROOF THEY NEEDED TO GET THE PROVIDER IN TROUBLE. SO FROM WHAT I KNOW. FROM THAT ONE STORY. ID SAY IF U R DOIN BIG THINGS HAVN LOTA TRAFFIC THAT DAY OR DAYS. MAKE SURE U TELL THE CLIENTS BOUT THIS STORY N TELL THEM HBEY U KNOW IF U EVER HAV SOME ONE ASK U WHAT U WERE HERE DOIN MAKE SURE U SAY U WERE VISITIN A COYSIN. I HAVE NO CLUE. THEN THEY DEF HAV VICE COPS THAT SET UP STINGS AND ACTUALLY RENT THE HOTEL ROOM N INVITE YOU IN.    I HAVE HEARD A THAT TOO. I ALSO THINK THEY CAN POINT A SURVEILEANCE CA, AT YOUR PLACE OF OPERATION N RECORD TRAFFIC . BUT THEY DEF CAN QUESTIION PEOPLE COMN N LEAVN N IF SOME ONE TALKS U R FUCT. THE IF THERES MORE THAN TWO COMPLAINTS FILED ON U, FROM NEIGHBORS THAT PROB CAUSE FOR THEM TO OBTAIN A NO KNOCK WARRANT N COME IN AND KICK IN FRONT DOOR GUNS DRAWN N TELL EVERY ONE TO GET ON FLOOR. N WETHER U ARE MOVIN WEIGHT OR JUST HAD TRAFFIC THEY DONT REALLY CARE. THEY LOVE RAIDN PLACES. TOO. THIS IS WHAT I KNOW ABOUT STINGS AND RAIDS. HOPE ITL HELP U. -

angel's tale indicates a good defensive tactic which is to change hotels after a day or two at the most.

Not only will you avoid having the hotel or neighbors drop a dime on you but you also avoid situations where a stalker comes back to your room unannounced to "hang out" with you.  (creepy)

Another tactic is to tell clients not to knock when they come up as knocking is often a dead give away.  Instead, when they call to say that they are downstairs, you set the door latch so it keeps the door open a bit.  If that seems unsafe and you want to eyeball the person before they walk in, tell them to call when they are at the door.  You don't have to even answer, just confirm it is them by the cell phone number that is calling.  You can then use the peephole to check them out.

Most providers that are disorganized get away with being disorganized, but it takes only one situation for them to get outed and possibly get themselves arrested and incoming clients arrested. The same ladies that stay at a hotel for a week seem to have no concern about towels being dropped on the floor by visitors. Or leaving more condoms than a person could use in a month for regular sex in the drawer of the hotel room nightstand while the maid is cleaning the room. Stupidity in this business is what gets providers and johns busted. When I run into a provider that is being careless, I don't visit her again.

I agree 100%! Thats why I never spend the night at the hotel. I always check out at a certain time and I always make sure to take all evidence with me and discard it outside of the hotel.  I need to bring my own towels from now on though...its a good idea. Cant be too careful

During in call chit-chat, a Fav lady noted another provider staying in the same hotel had been asked to leave by Mgt.  Fav lady was not, mgr even said something leading like "He didn't mind providers & thought it ought to be legal." but clearly at odds with the facts as she knew them.  She wisely did not confirm his suspicions.  I had seen the other provider at a different location & suspect I passed the next client getting off the elevator.
The Fav lady uses the same hotel very often...  usually rooms near the various wing doors.   I believe hotels could find out all providers if they chose to.  It's all about discretion...  and the individual management's attitude.
Wise providers tip the room staff very well.

Sadly, even in the high price ranges, I have not yet met a completely smart, self contained provider. I have no idea why there is resistance to buying $200 worth of good quality towels from Sears for use during business and wringing out and bagging said towels in a controlled suitcase after use by a client. Even good providers count on a $10 or $20 tip to keep the hotel maid from reporting all the towels that are being picked up, or used condoms in the trash.

though I have brough my own for a shower tryst we had planned.  I keep soft soap & hand towels before in my travel case...  "If your going to put your fingers there, they d*mn well better be clean!"  Most providers flush the condoms...  but the wrappers are a dead give away.  One provider I knew brought her own trash bag... a brown paper bag you could not see through.  Left ordinary trash in the hotel's can...  threw her bag in the common trash in the lobby or dumpster on her way out.
Some providers use a smart phone or adaptor on their laptop...  Hotel mgt...  owns their internet connection...  Even if you use secure encription, the business can see the sites visited...  just as employers can see guys who access adult sites from their office (even on personal laptops if you use their network.)
One should not leave visible signs in plain view, that's for sure.
