How do you guys and gals overcome the risk of STDs? My equipment is of average size but the condom does not cover the base of it, and even if it does reach the base initially, it slips up when in use, and even if it stays in place, the boys down below come in contact with her petals which seems like a likely place to contract herpes (for the guy or the gal). Any words of advice (aside from abstinence)?
You may want to consider using your own condoms, ones that fit well. If you explain your reasoning to most providers, you should not have a problem using them. Just open them in front of her. There is no such thing as 100% protection. All you can do is minimize your risk. You don't have to accept a BBBJ, DATY, or even kissing if you don't want to. Either accept the risks, or don't participate in the hobby. It is really that simple.
Well if you think about it even if you wear a condom and your date has hep c or something your hand will still be touching the outside of the condom when you remove it.
